These Perfect-it 3" Pads are sold two per plastic bag. The Purple ones are the Buffing Pads, the Black ones are the polishing Pads, and there's a light Blue Ultra Fine Polishing Pad. They are available in this 'Waffle' Profile, or flat. They have 'Hookit' backs that hold them in place, and they hold up pretty good, as well. I've had mine for a couple of years. There's another 3M Pad you might want to check out; 3M's 4" Pads that hook to your 3" Backing Plate and angle out to 4"; you can use the sides of these pads for getting into tight spaces. Their 3M numbers are 3M-30041: Buffing, 3M-30042 Polishing, and 3M-3M30043 Ultra Fine Polishing. They also come two per plastic bag. Use each one these Pads with their corresponding Compound/Polish and you will get good results.

Does the pad work with a hook & loop system. The backing plate is the rough side (hooks) which fastens to the soft side (loops) of pads - like velcro?
