Finding Mezcal: A Journey into the Liquid Soul of Mexico, with 40 Cocktails

Worth buying
As I grew older I started to learn more about Tequila and was then introduced to Mezcal. Recently I met the co-founder/owner of Del Maguey, as well as their east coast rep. Not only did I learn so much more about their mezcals and stories behind each one, I was also lucky enough to taste a good amount of them, including their Pechuga. This book goes into details and explain each mezcal and how different family follows their ancient traditions to produce mezcal responsibly. They also included some cocktail recipes at the end, which is clutch if you are first starting to drink mezcal. But definitely sip it, I like it with a small ice cube.

Fun book about Mezcal if
If you have someone who is interested in Mezcal this would be a great book for a gift. I bought this for my husband and he loved it. Half reads like a travel log and explains some of Mezcal. The other part has some good recipes for mixed Mezcal drinks.

A wonderful journey
Loved the book. Feel like I’ve been to the small villages and met the farmers who produced the single village mezcal. Thanks Rob Cooper for sharing your story and taking me with you. It opened a world and an art I have never imagined existed. Now for some tasting!

Beautiful book, with very personal and informative writing
Let me just start by saying that this is a beautiful book. The author is an artist, and it shows. The writing style is very personal and engaging, but full of great information on mezcal and the people that make it. It gives you a great appreciation not only for mezcal, but also the full context of the culture in which it is created. In my view this one is a keeper!

Love Affair
This book nicely captures Ron Cooper's love affair with mezcal, and himself. Entertaining, with some great recipes as well. I had the pleasure of meeting Mr. Cooper several times in the early 2000's when he was trying to get traction for beautifully produced mezcal, and he is the real deal. So is his juice.

A “must read” book
This book is a very good source of information for those, like me, tequila drinkers that want to explore all about mezcal. By the way, tequila is actually a mezcal. The author is extremely well versed on the subject, after many years of being in close contact with the Oaxacan artisans of mezcal; long before this agave distillate became the object of interest outside Oaxaca and other mezcal producing areas of Mexico. Highly recommended.

It's more than a book about mezcal.
I love this book! It’s the story of how mezcal found it’s way from Mexico to the US, but also the tale of a life well lived with adventure, passion, art, and a little bit of magic. And if you want something to drink while you’re reading it there are 40 recipes for mezcal cocktails from which to choose.

Fancy tourist guide
It's just a fancy tourist guide about Oaxaca. No information whatsoever about the spirit, how it's produced etc. If you're looking for a fancy novel this is your book. If you want to learn about Mezcal, then spend your money into something else.

A great read in Mezcal and Mexico
I’m only a few chapters in but this book is really great. Just the writing style and sense of adventure underpinned by the “medicina” makes me want to make the journey. And I believe I will...
