A is for Annabelle: A Doll's Alphabet (Tasha Tudor Collection)

This is an adorable ABC book with vintage and classic style pictures. A is for Annabelle, and the rest of the alphabet centers around her accessories.

My sweet baby granddaughter is named Annabelle, so when I saw this book, I just had to buy it. Every other page is in color with the others being in black and white giving it a somewhat vintage look. I love the illustrations of a time gone by. They are beautifully done. The book setting reminds of the of the late 1800s or early 1900s. Some of the words used in the book are no longer used today, but may have been used by my great grandmother who was born in the late 1800s. This book is for an older child that is beginning to learn letters, but it makes for a great display book until then. Even though Annabelle is a bit young for this book, we will occasionally get it down and read it to her. She likes to look at the drawings.

I saw a documentary on PBS about this author, who brings to mind an American version of Beatrix Potter. She is a delightful person and I was happy to find some of her books as gifts for my new granddaughters. She both writes and illustrates her books and they are thoroughly delightful. If you can see the documentary, you will want to get some of her books also. This book is very enjoyable, and I found it informative as well, which I did not expect.

This is a sweet, wonderful book that was read by my late mom to the granddaughters. Got it for my girls to have for their granddaughters when they have them!!!! Tasha Tudor was a gifted author and should be read more!!! What a treat!!!

My daughter would get me to take her to the library every week to renew her library book. This was a perfect gift for her.

This is a sweet little poetic book about two little girls' grandmother's old doll named Annabelle. It's an alphabet book, so it's educational, but it's also a poem and quite a lovely one. It goes through the alphabet describing all of the cute little accessories that Annabelle has. The language is beautiful as are the illustrations. I recommend this book for any little girl. It's an easy read, so it's perfect for children to practice their reading, and it's good for adults to read to children who are at the age of very short attention spans or if you want to get through a quick bedtime story.

いわゆるＡＢＣを教える本は色々子どもに与えてきましたが、この本はアルファベットを教える本というよりは、古き良きアメリカの女の子の、本当に子どもらしい遊び方を教える本であるなぁと感じています。 本は、タイトルでもあるアナベラという人形を通じて女の子が遊ぶ風景が描かれ、それに出てくる道具などがＡＢＣ順に紹介されていくというシナリオになっています。 古き良きアメリカの「女の子らしい」生活が好きなお母さん（カントリー好きな方にも最高でしょう）にはよだれの出る本といえます。 ３歳〜４歳ぐらいになって、男の子らしさや女の子らしさというものがわかってくるぐらいの年齢から読み聞かせることができる本です。ちなみにうちの長男は４歳になると「これは女の子のだよ」と言って嫌ってしまいました。姪っ子は好きで何度も「読んで」ともってくるようです。 ピンクのベースカラーに手書き水彩のボーダー、可愛い挿絵に手書きの活字は、お母さんの手作りを感じる暖かさと、高いクオリティを感じます。アートとしての評価も高いターシャテューダーの、子どもへの愛情がじわじわ感じられる本です。 いわゆる邦訳された絵本にありがちな、イラストが色あせていたり、かすれていたり、ドットが荒くなっていたりという雰囲気は無く、ハードカバーの製本、印刷クオリティは非常に高い仕上がりになっています。 ただし、これは読者のわがままかもしれませんが、１ページごとにフルカラー印刷とモノクロ印刷が交互になっています。ここまできれいなイラストなら、全てフルカラーで見たくなってしまうのはわがままでしょうか？

So much to love about this book. The illustrations are detailed, soft and captivating. We love the alternative between colour and black and white. The vocabulary is rich and descriptive, adding new words to our doll play. The rhyme and rhythm make it attractive to the ear of young listeners when read aloud. We borrowed this a lot from the library and finally have our own hard cover copy at home. This is a beautiful gift for any doll loving child.
