I feel that I should be transparent before i give this review, this is the first mechanical keyboard I have ever purchased or used. *Disclaimer* I am writing this review about a month after having the keyboard, it will be updated at six months, and a year, to give readers an idea of the longevity of the keyboard. I did an extreme amount of research on this keyboard via Amazon Reviews and YouTube videos. This keyboard was even featured on an episode of Linus Tech Tips where he gave the keyboard favorable reviews as well. If this is your first mechanical keyboard please be advised that it is a different experience typing on a mechanical keyboard rather than a regular keyboard. Keystrokes require a bit more force and depending on the switches you have, resonate with a very audible click. I find the click very satisfying, but if the click is too loud for you you can always buy rings to dampen the click. The RGB element of this keyboard is great. It isn't amazing by any means, but it gets the job done. All the settings can be changed on the keyboard with a combination of the 'FN' key, and whatever else is marked. The back lighting has many different effects, all of which are pretty cool and unique. This keyboard won't sink up with your games and change layouts based on what's happening in-game, but for $50, could you really expect it to? To get a better idea of the effects the keyboard offers, just look up any review of the keyboard on YouTube and it should give you a good idea of what the keyboard looks and sounds like. The media keys are also marked on the F1-F12 keys, and can be used with the 'FN' key as well. My chief complaint is that I have had problems with the 'FN' key on my keyboard, but I rarely use it, so it isn't much of a bother for me. This keyboard is using third-party switches that are "Cherry Equivalent." My experience with the keys so far is very positive. The keyboard is built really well and is heavier than expected, but I see no issue with a keyboard being heavy, it's just sitting on my desktop anyway. It also comes with a FREE keycap puller, which is cool because some keyboards that cost double this don't come with one. The ONLY other complaint I have is the company took forever to ship the keyboard, it arrived like 4 days after the time I was given after ordering it, but it arrived in great shape in nice packaging. I've read that the customer service is really good, personally I hope i never have to request an exchange, but if I do, my interaction with the company will be posted here as well. CONCLUSION This is a great keyboard overall, and i would venture to say that it is the best keyboard you can buy for $50 US dollars. It definitely peaked my interest in other Redragon products.

I'm pleasantly surprised by the quality of this keyboard. It is super sturdy, feels heavy and of a premium build. The clickety clack of the keys is smooth and weirdly as others have described, buttery. If you are new to these types of mechanical keyboards, know that this is no silent keyboard. It does give you a feel like you're working on a typewriter. If that's the feel and sound you are going for, you will be pleased. The round volume knob on the top right is a really cool retro feel. The keyboard is backlit with rainbow lights as default, though I am assuming you can change this (I have not played around with this). Also the colors on this specific model with the white/tan, green and brown keys is really lovely. My home office is undergoing an overhaul with shades of green and brown, so this keyboard fits nicely. Overall I really love this keyboard and highly recommend it, especially for the sale price at $50.

I love everything about it so far. The color palette of cream, olive green, and brown is exactly what I have throughout my house so that is really appealing to me. Typing on the keys is very satisfying. Nice tactile feel and sound without being noisy or irritating. Very pleasant to use. I didn't think I would need a volume knob but I've already been using it frequently. The only thing I would change is the backlight illumination. Why not make the light illuminate the key characters? The light is only around and behind the actual keys. I ended up just turning the light off anyways, so I guess it doesn't really matter. Overall, I'm really happy with it.

Been using this keyboard for a little over a week now and I absolutely love it! A little background I really only use my computer for everyday use such as google, YouTube, etc. as well as moderate cozy gaming on my PC. I also practice touch typing which is why I was in the market for a new keyboard. I wanted something that wasn't so loud but still satisfying to type on as well as comfortable. I have to say for this price point this keyboard is a must buy for anyone new to mechanical keyboards. So here are the Pro's and Con's. Pro's: ~ Quality: The keyboard is very well built! It is a good weight and doesn't feel cheap in the slightest. I have experienced any rattling or any loose keys. ~ Sound: The sound of the keys is literally heaven. I would say the sound profile falls in the "Creamy" category for keyboard enthusiasts like me. The keys have a nice matte texture to them and are rounded off on the corners, so it just feels more comfortable to type on. I have a video included of how this keyboard sounds compared to another mechanical keyboard I have that is more in the clacky range to show the different sound profiles. ~ Functionality: This keyboard is easy to setup in which way you want to use it (wired or wireless) but I use mine as wired and have not noticed have delayed keystrokes or sticky keys. I only connected mine to wireless briefly just to see how easily it connected, which it did, but I didn't use it wirelessly so I can't attest to its wireless functionality thoroughly. I enjoy that the volume knob has a smooth turn to it. Other knobs can be loud or feel like there's notches as you're turning it? I don't know if that makes sense, but the knob is just really smooth and easy to use. My old keyboard didn't have a volume knob, and I've learned that a knob is really a key part to a good keyboard. I really like that it has 2 different heights for the flippy feet, so you have two options as to how you position your keyboard. Packaging: As you can see in the pictures the packaging is done very well and when I received it, I didn't feel any shaking inside the box like it would've been rattled around during shipping. Everything within the box was nicely padded and secure, so in my case the shipping was of no trouble and actually arrived a day sooner than expected. "Cons": (I don't even want to consider these cons to the keyboard as they are rather more personal preference. I honestly am in love with this keyboard.) RGB Lighting: This is probably the only true con to the board is that in my opinion the lighting can be just slightly brighter. The brightest setting (level 5) can be compared to some boards level 3-4. This keyboard is still beautiful and does have good lighting options but in pics I did compare it brightest setting to my old keyboard's brightest setting, and you can see the difference. Caps Lock: It's hard to tell (at least for me) to know when the caps lock key is engaged as the only indication light is a tiny little white dot to the right of the keyboard letting you know it's on. I often don't even notice the light and only realize I've knocked the caps lock on until I'm writing in caps lock. This could just be due to me being used to my old keyboard where the whole caps lock key would turn a white light contrasting the rest of the rgb across the board so this could just be a user issue lol Cord Plug-In Position: Like I said this is more of a personal thing than it is a con. In the photos you can see that the cord plugs into the side of the keyboard. While this doesn't affect the functioning of the keyboard in anyway, I'd rather it plug in at the top. Just makes the arrangement of cords feel neater. I'm just particular so I of course in no way discount this against the board. Color: The color online and on the box make the green seem richer than it really is. Go off the review pics like I did, the color is more mint green with light thyme green contrast. It's still amazing and I knew what I was expecting due to review pics it's still a nice green aesthetic just not the vibrant sage and hunter green the pics display. Overall, for being under $100 (which seems to be what most consider "budget") this keyboard is perfect from everyday use to gaming. Perfect introduction keyboard if you're looking into starting a mechanical keyboard journey. If you're someone who mods keyboards I don't know how "moddable" this keyboard is, or if you'd even want to. This keyboard out of box seems on par with many finished results of modding videos I've viewed. Would recommend this keyboard to anyone honestly!

Love this keyboard, the buttons for the RGB were a big confusing at first, but got use to it. The sound is good and feeling is good plus the RGB looks nice. The keyboard size is a perfect duty for space, Battery last quite a long time, and the connectivity is pretty good. The only issue was when I was trying to pull out the switches it was kinda hard to pull it out.

I never thought I would become "one of those guys" with a fancy gaming keyboard and mouse until my old $10 mouse quit working and a friend just raved to me about how amazing mechanical keyboards and high end gaming mice completely changed his perception of gaming. So I bought the mouse, and he was right. It really is like night and day. Then I told myself I spent so much on the mouse, I wouldn't waste money on a mechanical keyboard. I mean, all you do is use it for typing words and game commands... Then I came across this RedDragon mechanical keyboard with great reviews and surprisingly fair priced. Not like brands like Corsair where they double the price just cause of their well known name. I did all the research on what the heck Cherry switches are and the differences and chose this K551 for it's rbg, simplicity and blue switches. Once the package arrived, I opened the box and was immediately impressed with the quality of the keyboard's construction. Feels very weighty, not cheap at all. I plugged it in, opened a word document I needed to finish and started to type... All I can say is WOW!!! these keys feel amazing. I could type with such ease compared to my old plastic one (I do lots of writing as well). At least twice as fast and with a lot less mistakes plus my hands wouldn't start to cramp up like they used to. I then messed around with the rbg settings (and it has quite a few not to mention all the function keys) and am very pleased with the lighting features. Finally, I started playing some games. Playing with this keyboard is just such a delight. Again with such ease, no hand cramping while pressing commands or typing in game chat for a few hours. I am beyond impressed with this RedDragon keyboard. It's so much better than I could ever have imagined and for the price, it's unbeatable. If you're on the fence about this like I was, just do yourself a big favor and buy it. You will not be disappointed, I promise you. It really makes doing everything on my pc now such a joy. RedDragon and Cherry Blue's, where have you been all my life!!!

For reference, I use my keyboard daily for work and writing. This keyboard is aesthetically pleasing to type on, listen to, and look at. I received several compliments on it and even convinced a friend to buy the same one, haha. Connection to devices is receptive and easy, and there's different options for your preferences (via bluetooth, usb). The battery lasts relatively long for me before I have to charge it again, but I recommend turning it off when not in use to preserve it longer. The keyboard itself is sturdy and feels great on my hands. My one complaint is that the volume control will not work if you haven't used the keyboard for a hot minute (I'm not sure on the exact time length here). In other words, if I wanted to adjust the volume using that switch, and it doesn't respond, I'll have to press a key first to reconnect the keyboard just for adjusting the volume. Not sure why that's the case, but it's a small annoyance that doesn't bother me much. 10/10 highly recommend for anyone that wants a responsive, reliable, and beautiful keyboard.

Update: my son loved this but 1 day before the return window closed the bluetooth stopped working. We tried on 3 different devices including the 2 he has used it on for the past month and nothing. Found out the keyboard can be reset (certain keystroke we had to google and try several before it worked) so its back up and running. However it ends up doing this (stops working and needs a factory reset) every time he tries to change what he pairs it to. So when he switches from school laptop to home one, etc it also does this and we have to constantly reset so its highly annoying and shouldn't so this. We have other keyboards that have no issue switching between devices. So the keyboard does have swappable keycaps and switches, however the keycaps are not standard height, and also vary across the board in shape and height. So when my kid swapped out the few he needed to, they were much higher than the rest. Could it be good for his gaming because he can find them easier, perhaps, but it can also bring problems as well. He is not sure if he will end up keeping this as a result. It does have the creamy or milk sound he was going for, and decent linear keystroke that so far seems to have a fast enough response time. Although it has many customizable colors and patterns for the lights, it of course did not have the light mode he wants even with the downloaded software and customization (he was hoping for the mode where you press one key and the light pulses outward towards the 2/3 keys that also surrounding it, like jadestone has, but this did not have it). Overall a decent keyboard with many options to customize as long as you don't care for specific things and dont really want to swap keys out. For a serious gamer it wouldn't work in that aspect, but for my kid who just messes around with friends a couple times a week and wants something better than a basic board its fine.

It is genuinely one of the greatest keyboards I ever bought, especially for the price. The build quality is amazing, the sound of the keys themselves are amazing, the RGB is a bit subtle but nice. Have legit only 1 complaint about the keyboard and it is a minor one, the right Shift key is smaller than normal so if you buy new keycaps, you cannot change it for a different keycap set which kind of sucks but that is something very minor. Edit: The keyboard in less than a month started to double and triple input randomly, absolutely horrible to use now.....

Impressed. Wifes Rosewill RGB keyboard quit after a little over a year, did my research in the $50-$75 range and landed on this. Very impressed with what this company has been doing, very competitive and very impressive products for the price. I needed true mechanical switches, solid (non-plastic) build construction, RGB to match her aesthetic and a full numpad for crunching spreadsheets. This fit the bill at a demonstrably unbeatable price for our requirements. No cherry switches, instead they are Outemu blues, but having tried them I actually prefer these and may switch to Outemus when my CM quickfire board eventually dies. Seemingly lighter than Cherry blues, and a little more tactile and clicky, they also seem to respond much faster in reset travel but that could be our perception given it's a brand new board. Both of our typing feels noticeably improved in quick tests, her coming from brown switches and myself from cherry blues. Drip/spill-resistant is the claim, but we hope to never have that tested. A comforting note though which would make the price point all the more stunning. Default lighting effects are *very* interesting mimicking big names and throwing in some unique presets (one of which we have reserved for Winter Holidays as it resembles twinkling Christmas lights), and there is a way to cycle-lock a specific shade but we have yet to figure that out as documentation is very crude and doesnt cover most of what's actually possible in customization, and reviews don't help as it seems the controls for adjusting things changes every so often in what I assume are revisions of the same board(s). Sleek and simple design, much simpler to clean than the (now insanely overpriced??) Rosewill RGB80 board that just died, conveniently just having passed warranty. Be warned, this does not have a detachable usb, but if you do your product research you'll be well aware of this beforehand. A minor compromise to help provide a quality option at a very budget price. I had originally planned on simply using this to tide us over until we could invest in a more premium option (looking at you, ducky), but we both agreed that so long as the durability factor is present (yet to be seen), this may have just become our go-to peripheral company when we're on a budget. Almost no deck flex, solid construction, swappable switches in case they quit on you and a bonus keycap puller which is pretty standard I suppose. Glad I gave these guys a try, only concern now is how long this thing will run before something inevitably goes wrong. If this lasts longer than the Rosewill keyboard it replaced, it will be money well-spent. As far as I can tell so far, it's truly a stellar product for the price. I would nornally give 4/5 for what it is, but at about $60 I have to adjust accordingly because overall quality alone already beats out boards I've owned for nearly 2.5x the cost. If the board lasts, I consider this a serious show of competition in the keyboard world. If you can have a true mechanical with rgb and good construction like this for $60, I personally feel competing companies have to be absolutely insane to be charging $100+ for membrane boards in this day & age. You've got another fan here, Red Dragon - I just hope it's also built to last! Keep up the good work! I will update this review accordingly if & when I experience a hiccup or board failure of some sort.
