If you have a habit of leaving your phone in the goat house, wish to charm the older folk, or want..
If you have a habit of leaving your phone in the goat house, wish to charm the older folk, or want another device to play your favorite 2006 gba game Mother 3 this gorgeous brick is for you. Yes, this cockin' peice of equipment truly has it all. I lost my last phone in the chaos of treating my dear nubian goat 'Sweetie' for scours, not sure wether i left it outside or it fell into a pile of the liquds that were pouring from her rear. But either way it was gone, and honestly wouldn't have lasted much longer either way, ive never had my phones stay alive on me more than a year. But this gorgeous thing is so rugged and heavy that it makes my hardened toll hands look petite. I could use the screen to stir the milk into my piping hot cup of Yorkshire tea, while video calling my good buddy many miles away in England, and the thing would find it enriching. Every old person thats seen it so far has fallen in love and wished it to be their own. and whipping it out in a crowd of pretentious people who brag about their new apple ipod225egad+ is truly satisfying. They can laugh at it if they wish, but they will never know the joy of simple joy of sitting outside in the grass for hours and thinking of things that make you happy. All they know is scrolling that certain horrid app at the tiniest trickle of boredom and using ai to write their essays, further destroying their ability to think and use their brains. I was a bit worried about the complications of getting service to it and wether it was truly unlocked because it seemed some people had troubles with it, but I was able to do it easily without hassle. The programmable button on the side is immensely handy, i set it to turn on my flashlight which speaking of is very bright. The camera and microphone quality really isn't half bad, actually better than my previous phone, ill attach a few photos taken with it. You cant do professional photography with it but it does its job. I did see a few complaning about short battery life but I haven't been bothered by that at all yet. It might drain quickly if your spending hours on it scrolling, but if thats what your doing with it, its not really the phone for you, It lasts me multiple days with light use. And it can emulate Mother 3!!! And you can use the physical buttons as the controller instead of having crap ones on the screen!?! This phone is truly a work of art. it might not be for everyone but it was exactly what I needed in a phone, I highly recommend it. Edit: after a good run of 4 months I have already very tragically lost my gorgeous beloved phone, it did not break, and I guarantee it is still functioning wherever it is. I simply accidentally dropped it in the woods somewhere while taking my previously mentioned Sweetie for a walk, but It served me incredibly well in that time, when I someday get another phone, it will be for sure one of these. After my time with it I could never use another. It was nice having people have the ability to call me but for now it might be best to go back to my phoneless ways, until we meet again cat s22 my love.

I'd rather compromise than keep this thing
It is very rare that I dislike something enough to leave a negative review. If you were hoping for a flip phone that had T9 typing, think again. This specific re-release of the CAT S22 does not have it stock. The weird insistence on using the tiny touchscreen's keyboard is infuriating enough, but there are few decent T9 keyboard apps to try that still require some use of the touchscreen. I find that rather unforgivable. If you're paying for a daily phone with modern app connectivity, perhaps it is worth it. But the battery life hardly lasting a few hours with consistent use (checking emails, files, mild browsing usage) is ridiculous. I hardly see a point in a removeable battery when the back is difficult to remove and put back on. I understand the seal is to help the water resistance but it feels unnecessarily challenging to do something that should be simple. Not to mention it's just simply unwieldy and ugly. Heavy, rugged, difficult to open with a single hand, and you risk the hinge pinching your hand or finger! The touchscreen seems fairly unreliable and not as sensitive as it could be. Disabling the "keypad tones" does not even work so using the T9 keyboard sounds obnoxious. Want a flip phone with app features? Where you won't have to fiddle with it like you would a keitai or backloading apks onto it like you'd need to with any other option? Then sure, at the very least try this phone. But if I'm more willing to put work into my beat-down keitai that connects to only two bands of American data and can't even receive MMS messages at the moment, that might tell you about this phone's worth. It can call. Text (with an on screen tiny keyboard, not so much with T9 without being infuriating). MMS is no problem. App compatibility is hardly an issue. Hardly pocketable with its size and rubbery texture. Doesn't work with Android Auto. Get a keitai. A Nokia flip. A TCL flip. Get a Garmin or car navigation. Save app usage for your PC or workplace and rely on your stock browser. Carry a second phone with you that's nearly outdated like the iPhone SE. Sometimes you gotta compromise. I do not think this device is worthwhile for what it's meant to be.

Great Concept for a Minimalist Phone - Ruined by Storage
I really wanted to love this phone. The form factor is fantastic, the build is rock solid with IP68 and MIL-STD-810H ratings, and it supports band 71 โ so reception in rural areas is excellent. It even has a dedicated shortcut key you can assign to any function you need. If you're looking to detox from screen time, this thing is almost perfect. Almost. The problem is the 16GB of internal storage. It was bad in 2022, and in 2025 it's just embarrassing. You canโt expand app storage via SD card either โ so unless you plan to use this strictly as a dumb phone with maybe one or two essential apps, you're going to hit a wall fast. Itโs a shame, because everything else about this phone is spot on for its niche. But the storage limitation is a dealbreaker for anyone hoping to get even modest Android use out of it.

Great flip phone- durable, high quality, and easy to use!
I have been super happy and excited about this phone. I have gone through many different flip phones and have been very dissapointed by the quality and performance. When I got this phone I did not have such high hopes, however I am really enjoying using it and don't have any complaints! First of all, the phone is super durable and has not gotten any damage from falling on the floor or by being dropped. The screen size is smaller than a regular iPhone but still large enough that you can read text messages without squinting. The operating system is the same as regular android phones which makes it easy to navigate. I have service though RedPocket mobile (T-mobile) and have not had any issues with connectivity. One con is that in order for people to hear you clearly through the phone you need to have it positioned in a specific way near your ear or else the person on the other part of the line can't hear you. The speakerphone is great and the phone works well with apple airpods as well. The phone holds charge well and can last a day to a day and a half without being charged. Overall, this was a great buy and I highly recommend to anyone who wants a reliable and durable flip phone.

GPS
Great phone for wanting to make your life more simple! I did get an unlocked one. Of course it is a flip phone so slower than a regular phone. Small apps you can download but bigger apps may have trouble or wonโt work. If you do take back roads or major city driving. Be cautious!!! I do both and unfortunately my GPS was not reliable! It would say the left when the gps showed right. Maybe 40% of the time. Maybe itโs just my phone but I could not be looking at a tiny screen to see which way I should really turn in a city or on back back roads

A perfect balance between dumbphone/smartphone
This review is from someone who is a tech savvy person. I've used pretty much any consumer electronic under the sun and can build a computer with my eyes closed, so take this with however much or little salt as you want. I consider myself a tech enthusiast, but have a love/hate relationship with it. Specifically with smartphones because they have become a plague on society, turning peoples' brains and attention spans into mush - designed to draw you in and steal your time from living outside of your dang screen. I was born in 93 so I'm not old (yet), and I am so sick of seeing people of all generations who can't sit at a dinner table or in a movie theater without pulling out their smartphones that I just don't even want to own one anymore. I am not someone who is addicted to their phone to begin with - I really only use it for utility purposes - but knew I still needed to be able to do mobile banking and also use my home security apps, and maybe GPS sometimes. I've looked at a bunch of old school flip style phones but none of them really seemed to have the capabilities I needed. Then I came across this - saw that it had a touchscreen, ran android, and the ability to remove most of the bloatware that comes on devices. I bought it, charged it, and tested it for one day, and by the end of the day decided this was the perfect balance of a smartphone and dumbphone. It has live GPS positioning like your smart phone instead of the "step by step" written instructions that other flip phones have, I was able to use my Chase banking app to deposit a check and transfer funds between accounts, was able to log into the Ring app to check my house alarm status, and was able to use my Kasa security app to check the live camera feed from my home. Technically you could probably download a lot of other apps from the android store, but the old school design and small screen of this phone would definitely discourage a lot of people. The only downsides I've encountered is that because this is a flip phone, it doesn't have a powerful processor in it...meaning that apps that take your smartphone a second or two to open might take this phone up to 10 seconds to open. Installing apps from the app store can also take a bit (one of the 3 apps I mentioned took up to 5 minutes to download over a solid wifi connection). The other issue I've come across is that because the screen is small, sometimes the digital keyboard will take up half the screen and make it difficult to see what you're looking at. Thankfully you can use the # key of the keypad to cycle between the digital keyboard and the old style numerical keyboard, which will give you full view of your screen back, and then you can scroll as needed, then switch back to the digital keyboard if you want. The battery life seems about on par with the Pixel 8a smartphone I switched from so far. I charged it up yesterday morning, and was on it quite a bit while I tinkered with it, set up my settings, downloaded apps, and switched my service over to it. As of now, 24 hours later, it still has 46% charge left, which with my type of usage I'm sure will probably last today and most of tomorrow. So if you are a utilitarian person like me, I expect a full charge with minimal usage could average 3-4 days of battery life. UPDATE: Alrighty, a few days later, I think I've got the phone fully customized and tailored to me. Everything I don't need is disabled and battery saver is on. After a full charge and minimal usage (1 or 2 phone calls, several texts), it's lost about 20% in about 30 hours....so my guess of 3-4 days was accurate.

This "unlocked" phone isn't unlocked.
It seems pretty sturdy, but I was unable to set it up because it's not actually unlocked. I have MetroPCS, so it *should* be compatible, but it wouldn't accept or detect my (activated) SIM card. Additionally, while installing apps and syncing things from my old phone, this CAT S22 got noticeably hot in my hand!! (For context, this was in an air-conditioned room, so not a hot space.) Battery life didn't even seem that good; it started at 47% and dipped down to 38% in under an hour. It was kind of glitchy too. It detected my microSD card initially, but then on reboot (which you're supposed to do as part of recommended setup), it no longer detected it. I'm really disappointed.

Best phone ever for kids and adults.
The absolute best phone ever. I use is myself and so do my kids. I can do everything I want, even scan PDFs for work. You can also modify the phone (ask Chat to help you) and can remove the browser, youtube etc. for your kids. This is the best phone if you want to get away from the ever addicting large screen smart phone or if you want your kids to be able to have pandora, phone text and whatever other app you want them to have. I even have parental controls on it and if I really wanted to could track my kids location (which I choose not to do). I honestly can't say enough good things about the CAT S22. I hope it's always available - I will NEVER go back to an iPhone.
