I have used TurboTax for about 7 years now and find that it walks me through the forms very well and as long as you buy the proper version and you don't lie to it you can't go wrong. I will continue to purchase the downloadable software because that's what I'm used to, though at this point my taxes have been simplified to the point that the online version would probably work just as well.

I purchased 2024 Turbo Tax Deluxe, but I cannot install it. I had no problems in previous years, but I always bought CD's at Staples. I spent 4 hours yesterday trying to install it, and a computer tech friend was unable to help me remedy the problem. I spent more than 2 hours on the phone today with Intuit Customer Service, and she finally said she had no solution as to why the install would not work. To her credit, she was kind and patient. I don't know what to do now. I did notice after purchasing the software from Amazon, I did not have a link in my Software Library to download my purchase. However, I did receive a Product Key from Amazon via email after my purchase. It isn't of any benefit to me because I cannot get to the point of successfully installing the software - let alone, activating it. In the last 2 days, I have made more than 50 attempts to install this software, but all attempts were fruitless. I am worn out. Please take this into consideration before purchasing.***UPDATE***After discovering I had a corrupt destination folder in Windows, I took the following steps to remedy the problem, and it worked like a charm:Type "environment" in the windows search bar.This will bring up "Edit the System Environment Variables" as a match.Clicking on it takes you to the "Advanced" tab of a dialog box titled "System Properties."Near the bottom of the dialog box, click on the pushbutton labeled "Environment Variables...".This brings up a separate dialog box that shows the current values for user environment variables at the top and system variables at the bottom. In the list of user environment variables, you should see both TEMP and TMP, and their current values.Click on each, then click on the "Edit..." pushbutton.This brings up another dialog box in which you can change the "Variable value" to "C:\Temp" (be sure to change the variable value, not the variable name).This folder must, of course, exist for this step to work properly.THIS IS WHERE MY PROBLEM WAS.MAKE SURE THAT FOLDER (VARIABLE VALUE) IS CORRECT.OK out of all the dialog boxes and retry the install.Environment variable changes take effect immediately, so if this is the only change you make, it's not necessary to reboot.All that being said, TurboTax "Side-by-Side" still does not allow you to make all entries. You must switch over to "Forms" to make some entries. I ultimately give it 4 stars.

I always use TurboTax, and for good reason – it is simple to use, as frequent updates, and good support resources. Some of their practices are definitely a little predatory, but I like the price and the ease of use of this product.

I've used turbotax for years.I wouldn't do it any other way. I'm not about to read everything to figure it out by myself. It does walk you through every possible thing you need to cover. Many years ago I made the mistake of going to H&Rblock. What a waste of money!She asked me a few questions and basically just put in the numbers that I handed to her.I think I ended up losing money on my tax return and then she charged me over three hundred dollars.That was years ago.It's probably twice that now

I am a very long term Turbo Tax customer and have used the product since at least 2009 (and probably longer than that). What was once a great program has gotten progressively worse, but this year hit a new low. This year the program began requiring registering with Turbo Tax to even use the program. This would be annoying enough if the process works. It doesn't. From my extensive conversations with support, their team is fully aware of the problem but unable or unwilling to fix it.In brief, after using the program and creating an account, the program required to verify my login, which failed. I spent a substantial amount of time trying various options, all of which resulted in a loop that would be funny if it wasn't so frustrating. I tried saying I forgot my password, it would go through the process of resetting it (including email verification), and then immediately prompt me to enter a password before I'd even reset it.I eventually decided to call support. There was a long interactive voice response system that seemed designed simply to frustrate people into not calling. It went through a very long process of making record my name, which it would then repeatedly get wrong and make me repeat and then eventually spell out, and then it would still get it wrong. Eventually it completed this "game" and was (after a wait) transferred to a representative). Their first question was "what's your name"? So much for providing it in advance.After a long process of exploring options that rep said the easiest way to go forward would be to create a new account and simply give up on the old account. I confirmed, repeatedly, that I would NOT need to buy the whole program again (that would be dumb) and would be able to reactivate my old license. I was assured in no uncertain terms that it would work. It didn't.I called back. I played the same "let's say your name" game a second time. I spoke to a rep who said that I would need to get a refund. Except she couldn't give me a refund. She suggested asking Amazon for a refund (too bad, it's over 60 days, so no option there, that's what I get for buying early). So she has to chat (online chat, apparently, she was working from home and having problems with a barking dog) with a more senior representative. She vocally expressed her frustration with the chat process (and again, this was a Turbo Tax paid support person) and how they weren't listening to her and were ignoring what she was telling them.She was eventually informed that she couldn't help me and I'd need to talk to another department to get help and possible a refund. She transferred me. I was informed that there was a 45 minute wait to speak to someone but that they'd call me back. I'm waiting. I don't have high hopes.Do yourself a favor. Don't use Turbo Tax. It's not worth it. It use to be good. Then it was OK. Not it doesn't work and wastes your time. Stay away.

Easy to use and very reliable way to complete your taxes. I’ve used it for years.

I've used this for years. It lets you take charge of doing the return on your own, or it has an option to walk you through each step. At the end, the software points out any potential problems.
