Solidly made
Fairly solidly made. I was a bit skeptical at first, but it does indeed seem to do a good job at aerating the compost pile.

Best for small compost bins.
If you have a real small compost bin it would be perfect. The blades do not stay in place when mixing your compost. You're consently fixing or readjusting the blade.

Broke on the second day
It broke after two uses: the harpoon-wings (one of them) does not lock anymore. Which is really a shame, as the thing worked really nice; I would just drive it down, pull it up, and so on. But after using it only two times, one of the wings is now broken. What makes this situation particularly sad, is that the wing is not just "slightly malfunctioning every now and then"; unfrotunately now it just does not lock at all, even if I use the turner really gently. What happened (see the photos attached to this review) is that the metal notch on the stick itself got smoothed out and completely degraded. It is a construction flaw: perhaps the notches are too small, or the wings are made of much harder steel than the stick itself, or the hinge in the middle was too loose, but now there's no way I could use this stick properly. I will try to contact the manufacturer, but for now I'm so very disappointed. UPDATE from a month later: no news from the manufacturer, so I guess this is it. Since then I bought a different turner - one of those spiral-looking one-piece things. It is a bit more expensive, but is virtually unbreakable as it has no moving parts. Should have bought that other one to begin with, but I was cheap, and, well, got punished.

Does the job.
Works fine but would have preferred one I could use both hands to twist (dual handle.)

Every home composter needs this tool
Nothing like it to refresh a compost bin. Brings the worms to the top to go to work on the new kitchen scraps.

Wings don't always deploy
About 1/3 of the time one wing does not deploy so I only get half the turnover it should give.
