The mandoline offers the advantages of both efficient performance and a straightforward design. However, its ease of use is somewhat compromised by the thickness adjustment mechanism, which relies on two screws without a guiding system, thus requiring manual leveling. Consequently, a star has been deducted due to the maximum thickness limitation of 5mm, which is suitable for cucumber salad preparation but unsuitable for producing french fries.

Having trouble understanding positive reviews. The product is flimsy and twists while you use it. There are two screws that adjust the thickness of the cut. (If the product was more rigid you would only need 1). Those screws are completely loose so you can't hold a setting. So you'll have to fidget with it each time you use it. Let's see- what else... Well the product is made in Taiwan, NOT Japan as per title. Nothing on the package indicating any connection to Japan. And the color of the product is an especially ugly pink-beige, not as shown. And the color of the holder is not purple as shown in this listing- it's just clear. So overall, my impression is: cheap product, poorly designed, with ugly looks. Will it slice cucumbers? Yes it will, but so will a knife, and this junky thing will just make the job unpleasant.
