When they are sold out, they will be gone forever! Review: You get what you pay for - great guide with some negligible flaws! - The guide is good and detailed. As most of you already know it comes with a code for the digital version (I had no problems with that) and a small book (A Fractured Land) that also has a nice cover and feel to it. Since there are a lot of reviews already I won't be trying to do one. I just want to address the points most of the buyers complain about and share some of my own. - The thin/flimsy pages - they indeed are on the thin side but they are not terrible. This is my first collector's edition guide and I cannot judge what was the quality of the pages in the past but this is just the standard quality prima games guides' pages (at least for the last years). Yes, nothing shouts premium about the guide except the cover. - No index - yes, there is no index. Still, this is not a fact that bothers me and here are my reasons: - - On page 12 and 13 there is a "Quest Overview" section/table that shows you all the quest alphabetically ordered (and on which page of the guide to find them). Actually the book is pretty cohesively written and the quests are presented in a consecutive order. There are some big main quests that will be chopped in the book by some secondary or even other small main quests but this does not ruin the experience but rather enhances it (at least for me). - - The "Atlas" section shows you everything that can be found in the different regions of the map (quests included again with the corresponding page in the guide). - - The "Appendices and Compendiums" section is the only section that is a collection of topics that are somewhat not easy for navigation within the book. On the good side this section is fairly short and once you go through it visually you'll have no problem. - - If you want to search on the go, the web version is ideal for this. If you have a tablet near you while playing it will be the best. On the other hand the information in the book is presented far better and with more eye candy. - The art section is a nice touch with some information in between the different sketches. The text does not bring a lot to the experience of the art but is simply there for somewhat to complete the ambiance. I would have preferred some info on the inspiration behind the sketches than mere description of what you see or already know. - The thing that actually bothers me is all the grammar and spelling mistakes in the guide. I'm not a native speaker but still the mistakes are very basic. Next time at least run a spell check if there is no time for a real copy-editing. Overall I'm pretty happy with the guide and its content (and the bonus materials). I bought mine for 15 pounds. Review: Thorough and beautiful. - First off, if you're a fan of The Witcher then this book if just for you. The hardback edition is just beautiful, solid and well designed. Some have said that the pages are thin, but I find them no thinnner than those of other game guides that I have. Obviously, considering the usefulness of this book care should be taken as the pages can be easily torn. This book is very well written, with a defined table of contents and index markers on each page to identify which section is being tackled. However, because there are no sub-catagories listed in the contents it takes a while to find certain topics like Alchemy, for example, which I finally managed to find hidden in the Appendices and Compendium section under the Inventory and Unique Items. The Inventory catagory is quite extensive, I just wish the various topics stood out more. However, this is just a minor thing considering the wealth of knowledge packed inside this book. It is definitely an exhaustive guide to the game with a beautiful portion devoted to the artwork of The Witcher. The quests are thoroughly explained and the maps are clear and there are sections dedicated to all things Gwent, how to play and where to locate all the cards in the game. The Colletor's Edition also comes with a little hardback book called "A Fractured Land: Tales of the Northern Realms" and it is so neat, filled with history, tales, information about the characters and beautiful pictures and illustrations. My only gripe is that the print is really small and could cause eye strain. All in all, I'm quite satisfied with my purchase and considering the price it was definitely worth it. A welcome additon to my bookcase.

This one is good, as you'd expect
Game guides are important for me to get the most out of the games i play and Prima tend to be top notch guides as a rule. This one is good, as you'd expect, but i have to agree on the quality of the paper used - poor really, given the amount of hammer they will take. My other really big bug-bear is not having a proper index at the back of the guide - with a guide like this with so much to cover and to read, a comprehensive index is vital to go directly where you need to. For these two reasons I marked it 4 instead of 5 stars. I also feel the mobile version (you get a code so you can get a version on your tablet etc) isn't up to the usual standard of Prima's other offerings. All that being said I wouldn't want to set out on my adventures without the guide close by for when i get stuck or need to refresh my memory on something. I still think it was worth buying, at just under £14, with free p&p, it is still good value.

Great guide. What's the story with the stock / distribution though?
Great book and real value for money. This is a beautifully crafted guide. Some people are whingeing about print quality and the paper not being up to scratch. I don't know if they received a different book to me. My guide is great and reminds me very much of the skyrim guide in terms of quality, size and comprehensiveness. There is some artwork at the book too which is a nice extra. The free extra book is also a nice touch and is A5 in size (I was expecting A4 for some reason) although in this book the font size is a bit too small and information seems to have been a bit crammed in. Also it feels a bit like I'm going to break the spine if I try and open it fully to actually try and read it. All in all though a fantastic guide and well worth the investment. I like to have these to refer back to either during the game or simply as a souvenir for after I've finished playing the game. One last point. I have no idea what's going on with the printing / distribution of this guide? I pre-ordered ages ago and then it seems like some stock got sent out around the original release date and then suddenly it was temporarily unavailable for a week or two and now it is dispatched in 1-3 weeks. The same seemed to happen on other retailers like bookdepository Is it getting republished perhaps? Who knows. All seems very weird. Anyhoo :)

Beautiful and very useful
I found using this book to be a breath of fresh air. The game itself is incredible, and the companion book is in its own league of quality also. The art work behind it and how written it is will leave many people happy with it.

COMPLETE ANALYSIS
If you are serious about completing the game then this book is an absolute must. It thoroughly covers EVERY aspect of the game, how to develop your character to be the best and how to play. It also gives you a full in depth walk through if you just want to follow that, with spoiler alerts. Because Witcher is such an intense, mammoth game it needs a good guide, this is it! The quality is superb as is the artwork, one minor warning would be the pages are a little delicate so turn them carefully, if not they easily rip. The wealth of knowledge in this book is beyond belief. Yes it is possible to complete the game without the guide but you will miss huge areas of the game and you will make wrong decisions - this is because it covers story lines from previous games and other formats which is invaluable to those who are starting with this game. And to be honest the guide really makes the game much more fun to play. It does cover everything the game will throw at you EXCEPT the new add-ons, but by then you'll be an experienced Witcher.

Great value
For £13.59 this was great value- a comprehensive game guide and additional book about all things witcher. The hardcovers of the books are high quality. The pages within the guide are a little thin so you will have to be careful not to rip them when flicking back and forth. You will be doing this quite often- it's a huge game and the guide would have benefited from a full index at the back- I can see that I will have to invest in some post-its. The text in both books is also small- it causes me a bit of eye strain reading through it for too long! For those players coming to the World of the Witcher anew, this package does not provide a "story so far" section but- for anyone wanting to experience the game to its fullest- this is an essential purchase, especially as it gives you a free e-version of the guide that you can access on your smartphone or tablet (so long as you are online and logged into the Prima website).

One of the best guides around for those who want 100%.
The layout of the books is quite nice and separates the sections into easy to find and reference format. The first part is naturally the 'how to play' portion but it goes into far greater detail than I ever expected the book to go. For example, I did not know you only had to meditate to refill your potions and bombs utilizing hard alcohol you've collected. I also didn't know you can use the crossbow underwater for one shot kills there. Furthermore, did you know you can slow down time while holding the attack button while on a horse at galloping speed to better aim your swipe? The 'how to play' section is everything you'd expect and more, definitely worth the read, unlike other strategy guides where you can just skip this section and not miss much. The huge chunk of this book is then devoted to two types of quests: Main line story quests and secondary quests. In a bit of inspired editing, the secondary quests that have a direct effect on the main story and/or its characters is included alongside the main line story quests. This is great when you want to follow the 'recommended' order of following the story and complete sidequests right alongside the main quest and not miss out on a single crucial decision! The next section after deals with every other secondary quest, witcher contract, races, treasure hunts, woman conquests and more, carefully detailing out all the potential variations of each quest based on YOUR decisions. So you can freely choose how you want the quest to play out with this knowledge. (they did this too in the main line story quest section as well) The remainder of the book is an exhaustive collection of appendices detailing the bestiary, all your potential armor pieces and swords and how to craft them, alchemy and how to craft each, maps and locations pointed out for every area. There is no stone left unturned in this book and it is much appreciated from someone who loves to get 100% in every game. A purchase well worth the money! A great companion to the Witcher 3: Wild Hunt game. The additional 'lore' book that comes with isn't too shabby either and a highly interesting read in its own right. Recommended.

Great resource!
I found this book to be an amazing source of information for the game. Main story, side quests, bestiary, character info, skill descriptions, possible skill builds, etc. My only issue is it can be confusing trying to find exactly what I'm looking for, not to mention if you aren't careful, you could end up reading spoilers. Easiest thing to do is go to the beginning of each section. They have a list of the quests and what pages the information is found on. Highly recommend!
