The Spice Lab Pink Himalayan Sea Salt, Fine, 1 lb Bag

This is good quality salt, beautiful color and a fine taste. The packaging is a nice thick bag that holds up to the rough edges of the salt. The price is very good too.

I had bought Himalayan salt crystals for my mill and use rather often when cooking, I bought a one pound bag of the same salt that I could use in a salt shaker and LOVED IT! I use the grinder as often as I use the fine table salt. I am a hardcore natural food enthusiast and have learned as a culinary school educated chef that ordinary table salt as we known it is not good for you due to the high sodium content. Yet download or research anything related to Himalayan Sea Salt and you discover that it is very low in sodium yet bolsters numerous minerals that are good for you such as phosporous, potasium, calcium, zinc, and the list goes on and on. Yet despite Himalayan Sea Salt possessing a ever so slight flavor differential from that of ordinary table salt, this salt is Yummy on everything and you can feel confident that what you are getting in your daily intake is more geared for what IS GOOD for you verses what we all have been told for years about the effects of high sodium content in so many foods. Buy it!!!

I picked this up after reading a number of articles on the benefits of a full mineral salt over refined table salt. I was concerned that the flavor would be "off" compared to the refined salt I am used to. I was pleasantly surprised to find no difference in the flavor. It works great on the table, or when cooking. The grind of this is a bit fine, and I had to add some rice to my salt shaker to keep it from absorbing moisture. When cooking I'll put a little in a bowl, and season from there instead of a larger container to prevent any steam/moisture from getting to the salt. I plan to buy a a larger grind next time, then use a grinder at the table to dispense the salt. All in all this a great salt, better for me, and a great conversation piece on the table.

What can one say about salt that hasn't already been said 50,000 years ago? Well, I'll say this... my Spice Lab Pink Himalayan Salt seems to be a tot less salty than traditional salt....but that could simply be a misfire in my poor brain. I'm not a Morton Salt snob... I like that stuff jes fine....but not only is our new Spice Lab Pink Himalayan Salt prettier an more fun, but also about the most reasonable in cost out there. Neat!

Most stores in my area sell Pink Himalayan Salt in crystal form in non-refilable grinder. Very handy for small portions or on prepared food. But I recently started cooking with the salt and grinding up a tablespoon is a pain in the butt. Not to mention the cost and waste involved with buying it in a throw-away grinder. Then it occured to me to check Amazon for the pre-ground form, and voila(!) - I'm happy to have found this. I purchased the 1 lb. size to start and it was smaller than I thought it would be, but I'm sure it will last a while. Next time I'll get a larger size, but I'm pleased with this purchase. Tastes great also, and Pink Himalayan Salt is better for you than regular table salt from what I've researched. So the people who wrote that salt is salt, well that's not the whole story but to each their own and I personally am sticking with this.

Recently, I could only find course ground kosher salt, and so I went online to explore the benefits of the different types of salt. In my research, I found that Himalayan was better health wise. The only negative I would say is that in scrabbled eggs or in an omelette, it creates a tiny bit gritty texture...nothing that would keep me from using it. From order to delivery, it was quick!
