I bought 2 of these (along with 4 of the top mount style) for my basement homebrew room. They look great & are well made. I'm using them above my clean-up sink so that fact they are splash proof/water resistant is great. They have seals between all the metal/glass connections so there is no worry about water getting in (they are made for outdoor use). They have a nice industrial look which is exactly what I was going for. Easily installed in 10 minutes (not including running the conduit/wiring into the panel/etc). They don't show the junction box in the picture for some reason but it's there (& you need to use it & run your wire in conduit). These are made for expose conduit wiring only (not flush mount). Very nice lamp. With things like this you can tell the quality by the weight and these are quire hefty. Was easy to install. I live on high bank waterfront property on the Puget Sound in Wa. We get hellish windstorms in the winter with driving wind, rain and sand so a regular fixture just doesn't cut it. We had our first major storm this weekend and these held up well. They look cool too. Reminds me of something I would see on a ship when I worked in the merchant marine.

After reading one of the previous reviews I was concerned about the mounting problems he had encountered, but I purchased anyway I just had to try it myself. Yes the previous reviewer is correct the mounting holes do not line up correctly with a normal electrical wall box. The fixture was designed to be mounted with the included surface mount box - bummer. After being a bit disappointed, but not willing to be defeated or use the ugly surface mount box I began to work on a way to mount them. Our house has a stucco exterior so I proceeded to take the old fixtures off and hold the new ones up and marked where each of the four holes would have to line up on the stucco. I used a masonry bit and very carefully drilled four holes into just the stucco and carefully put in a wall anchor. These new holes and anchors worked perfect to mount the fixtures. Remember to take off the rubber gasket from the surface mount box and use it between the fixture and the stucco to make a weather tight seal, a little silicone didn't hurt either. I used various wattages (9w and 13w) of the new Phillips mini twist compact fluorescent bulbs (Home Depot - 4 pack for $7.99) in the fixtures and couldn't be more pleased with the light output and how they look. I installed a total of 9 fixtures around the exterior of the house. Building codes can vary across the country I suggest you check yours to ensure your installation complies.

I'm using these fixtures as my standard exterior lights at 4 house entrances including the front/main door. I painted mine red to sync with my doors and exterior accent color. They paint up nicely and I think they look great. I'm knocking off a star because a few of the screw hole threads were wonky, but I made it work. I agree with another reviewer: take the time to run the glass through the dishwasher before you install because they come with some kind of film on them. After the wash they come out clear as a bell.

Before I get into my review, here is a FYI on 'Silver' vs. 'Brushed Steel': At the time I ordered the 'Silver' one, the image was the same (duplicate) of the 'Brushed Silver' one - but when I got it, it was painted more of a battleship grey than silver. I returned the 'Silver' ones and got the 'Brushed Steel' and they look as pictured/what you'd expect. 1. Components: The fixture and guard is all metal, with a thick glass screw-in insert. The metal seems to be some kind of nonferrous pot metal, but solidly constructed. There is some clear indication that it's cast metal (rough edges), but this is rather minor in my opinion. Only the pickiest of buyers will notice/care. 2. Installation: I was just replacing existing fixtures, so I already had the location on my house wired. Installing them was very easy (this was also the first time I have ever installed a porch light). Note that it does *not* come with screws to affix the mounting plate to the side of your home, nor does it come with wire nuts (to join the wires from the light fixture to the wiring from your home). These are cheap to buy at any hardware store, but it's good to know this before you get ready to install. 3. Looks/functionality: I've only had these installed on my house for a couple days, but they work well and look fantastic. They cast the light well and the metal cage that protects the glass does not seem to affect the light or cast shadows in any significant way that I can detect. 4. Made in China. Just a FYI to those that want to know where it's made.

Perfect front porch lamps for my beach cottage. Looks like they came off an old tugboat. The glass is beautiful and the whole structure is solid. I had zero problems hooking it up. That's because I used the mounting box that came with it instead of jimmying it directly to the wall like some of the other reviewers did. Yes, It is true, and strange, that the photo doesn't show the mounting box that attaches behind it. The mounting box is a cylindrical "can" as wide as the attachment plate shown in the photo and a little less than 1.5" deep. Personally, I think my lamps look better with the the mounting boxes, more like some kind of found nautical relics. I'll post a photo one of these days. Bottom line: Beautiful, solid, and functional.

Yay! We redid our mudroom (covered with pallet boards) into what looks like an apocalypse bunker. The light was a great find! We put it on the ceiling instead of a wall- I painted it red and an iridescent green- then sprayed the dome with frosted glass spray paint. It looks great! I’m very happy with it!

I bought two of these on two separate shipments and both units had broken jars, it is a well built light fixture and all else was excellent, the packaging could stand some improvement. Buyer beware you may have to send some of these back check when you receive them for breakage top edge of the jar.

Love it, I just love it. I looks great with a flame light inside. Very sturdy and well built (old school)

The globe and cages will give me a good safety feature in my garage.

I bought these to put around my pond. Had them now for 1 year without any issues. They work well, look good and are easy to install. You will get some moisture build up inside the glass diffuser, but it doesn’t affect anything. These were slightly cheaper then buying these from HD store.

Good value. We found the same ones at home depot for $119. Saved a bunch of money
