Even as a young bachelor I’ve always appreciated having good scents around (a very good thing especially if you didn’t have all the time in the world to clean your bachelor pad as meticulously as you should). Burning incense was nice and strong, but short lived and often too strong while it lasted for some guests (and made a cloudy, lingering haze reminiscent of the discussion circles on “That 70s Show”). Candles were nice and provided great ambiance for setting a mood when you had a young lady over, but their flowery scents and pastel colors would often lead to ridicule when the guys were over for not being manly enough.This gift set is perfect for the guys in your life who appreciate a pleasantly scented environment, yet masculine enough in scent and appearance to prevent ridicule from even your least mature bros.While scents are a very personal thing to each individual, they did a pretty good job picking ones which smell nice to both men and women, and yet aren’t too “flowery” to considered too “girly”. Even the candle jars and carefully designed with dark smoked glass and subtle 2 tone labels make these fit in to a sophisticated cigar shop type of look.And if the man in your life doesn’t yet realize that their place stinks and you really need to do something about it, these are a nice subtle way to change that in a non-intimidating, not too feminine way that won’t embarrass him in front of his guy friends. He may even view it as romantic!

Got this set for my home. It would make a nice Christmas gift or gift in general for those that like candles. I was probably familiar with 2 or 3 of the scents prior to getting this set. The thing about a variety pack is that you may get 1 or 2 that you don't like. You can always gift it to someone that does like it or doesn't mind the scent. The candles themselves aren't that big, but you have six of them to go through. My candles showed up in perfect condition (no broken glass thankfully). I was worried a little because the glass has what looks like a plastic lining. My normal use is placing a candle under a heat lamp instead of lighting the wick, so I wasn't sure if this plastic would melt. After trying it out for 2 hours, the plastic seemed fine, did not melt. I'm not an expert on candle scents so I can't verify if they smell like what they're named. Most of them smell good enough for me to want my home or room smelling like them.Overall, I am happy with this selection.

While this is marketed as a "gift set for men", I did not buy them for a man or as a gift. I bought them for myself and am thrilled I did! I don't know which scent I like most, but while I search for more smoky, woodsy scents, I do like the freesia and the lavender as much as I like the oak and the smoky vanilla. I have to include the sandalwood and the leather also because they are ALL that good!

I really wanted to love these candles so much. I loved the fact that they were black jars, the design was beautiful to be, the soy wax was attractive as it burns clean, but unfortunately they arrived broken. They came packaged nicely., The box was appealing which is always a bonus to me if you want to give as a gift. The scents in the box sounded great. Due to two of the candles breaking and glass rattling around during delivery it scratched the top of the others. There were shards everywhere. After I got rid of the mess, I did manage to save the four left. One lid the minute you opened it, as you can see by the photo the lid bent. They are very thin aluminum lids. I attached a photo of the information on the side of the box. I did light the Oak scented candle and unless you were right on top of it you couldn't smell it. It did smell really nice though but I would suggest this for maybe a very tiny area such as a powder room. I left it lit for approximately five hours, it burned very clean, no black soot on my edge of candle when I wiped to check and not a lot of black while it was burning either. I wouldn't purchase these again especially at the price point they were. I love very fragrant candles and this just weren't it for me. I think if they also packaged the top of the candles the way they do the bottom they will prevent anymore breakage from happening. The bottoms have the soft Styrofoam cut outs surrounding each candle in the box, that definitely needs to be on top of these as well or at least something padding the jars more. These are a beautiful design, classy looking and a nice size. Would make great little gifts or stocking stuffers for a guy or anyone like me that loves black, modern decor, but needs more fragrant and protection. The other fragrances in the box smelled nice, but again not very strong. If you like very fragrant candles, I would definitely pass on these. Thank you.

I was very excited about these candles. I love and am familiar with three of the scents. The candles are nicely packaged and would be nice when presented as a gift. A generic Christmas card is included. However, the scents are not impressive or even accurate. I love sandalwood and the sandalwood candle does smell a little like sandalwood. However, the lavender is far too chemically to be described as lavender. The freesia smells like Zest soap. The oak has almost no scent (kind of like trying to sniff an oak leaf). The smoked vanilla has a vanilla scent, but not any smoke. It is confusing.

Overall nothing to complain about. Solid product overall, nothing to really critique.
