This was used in an outdoor light fitting on a driveway to a rear garage at the side of the house, replacing a standard filament bulb. The fitting had no sensor so was usually switched off unless we wanted to go around the house to the refuse bins after dark.Merely replacing the bulb avoided replacing the light fitting and any possible rewiring to obtain a security light and the light is now left on permanently. The bulb is in an enclosed fitting with an opal glass shade about 10ft up a wall, but the shade does not seem to affect operation. The sensor is sensitive and picks up any movement; it can be too sensitive, especially on windy nights, when a neighbour's tree is being blown around, but at 9w it is hardly expensive to run and if the wind becomes a real problem you can always switch it off.The neighbour, incidentally, has a security light with a sensor on the corner of his house covering much the same area and both lights come on in unison when my car arrives on the drive after dark, which confirms its effectiveness.It is an inexpensive and effective security upgrade to an outside light with no sensor.

I fitted one of these in a porch (so behind an external glass door) so that would turn on as I approach it and before opening the door. At first it would turn on too soon, even if my neighbour was walking towards his own door (it was summer); now, in winter, it doesn’t turn on until I open the doorNot sure if this is due to temperature

Great but can be slightly temperamental dependant in other lights being on and off in the same location. Also extremely sensitive we have one on the landing and if you move your foot in bed it turns back on.

Jury is still out but as one seems to work fine and the other, well....... you need to be the size of a large bull to set it off!

Three weeks after delivery one of the two bulbs in the pack failed - not really good enough for a bulb with a claimed life of 30000 hours. The other bulb is still working and doing what I want so return of the two bulb pack is not really an option. I was thinking of buying more but now I'm having second thoughts.

The dusk to dawn feature works fine, but the sensing is hopeless. One bulb constantly switches on and off and even when fitted into a high mounted outside carriage lamp facing the sky continued to do the same (no aircraft flying that low here!). The other does the same to a lesser extent. I would recommend you look to an alternative method.

One bulb is too sensitive the other doesn’t work at all.
