I love it.
Bought to replace an old one my mum gave me. I love it. Perfect for stews as you can fry the meat in the bowl first. I use the rice function lots as it’s always perfect how I like it. The yoghurt function is very successful. Only 100g plain yoghurt and a carton of uht milk makes a huge batch of yoghurt in 8 hours and it’s very good. I have proved dough in it too. Very versatile.

Very modern, and it works!
I have been considering buying a slow cooker for quite a while, and never got round to it. Then, I came across this more modern idea of a multi-function cooker that can cook various things with pre-programmed settings (although with most of the programmes you can adjust the temperature and/or the time). I have had the CleverChef for around a month now. The first thing I would say is that it looks smart and shiny - I got the black one - and the controls are all 'touch' controls (not buttons) that mean cleaning is easy. The removable cooking pot is non-stick and also easy to clean. The heating element is a very hi-tech looking thing - a pancake-shaped spiral of shiny metal which presumably heats very evenly across the bottom surface of the pot. The lid closes with a nice action and has a rubbery seal, with a vent in the top of the lid to let out any steam. The first thing I tried was basmati rice. You simply put the water & rice in the pot and choose the rice setting from the menu and press start. I must admit that I was a bit skeptical about how good the rice would be - I like it fairly dry and fluffy. Anyway, after a while it did its thing, came up to temperature, some steam came out of the top and, when it was ready the machine went into 'keep warm' mode, The rice was perfect. Next up, we made a sausage casserole. This had a couple of steps to the cooking - first off, using the 'saute' mode to brown the sausages and onions, and then the 'stew' mode to simmer it. Again, it was simple to use and the end result was delicious. Finally, I decided to try something that you wouldn't be able to do in a slow cooker - a cake! The cooker can act as a mini-oven (although not a high-temperature one). The recipe book that comes with the machine has recipes for a carrot cake and fruit cake, but I decided just to try a standard Victoria sponge (6oz each flour, butter & sugar, 3 eggs). I wasn't sure how much time to give it, so I set it to 50 minutes, which turned out to be a bit long - the bottom was slightly overdone, but the cake was really good! The interesting thing is, because the lid keeps the moisture in, the cake stays moist while it cooks. I would even say that it was better than I usually make in my fan oven. I haven't got round to it yet, but I intend to try the recipe for pulled pork (possibly the most delicious food ever!). Overall, I think this is a great addition to our kitchen: it works really well, the instruction manual was easy to follow, and it is very simple to use.

Money- and time- saving device
I bought this device last year as I was without an oven for 3 months. I have found myself using it quite often even now I have a new fan oven. It costs just pence to run. Most often I use the slow cook function, but I have also made yoghurt and bread in it. I do find that the stew and soup functions are too fierce and do not simmer, but I think I probably need to experiment more with reducing the temperature. It is very useful having the saute function to fry off meat etc before slow cooking, so everything is done in the one pot. I have had no problem with the lining of the pot, but I am always careful nit to use metal utensils. The only issue i have had is that the black coating is cwearingoff the outside of the lid, but as this does not affect the cooking process, it is just an aesthetic issue. Definitely a good buy if you are want to save money on cooking, and would be a useful gadget for a bed sit etc.

Multi use and handy little cooker
I wanted a smaller cooker to use instead of putting the big oven on. There’s only two of us at home so didn’t want anything with a large capacity. I’ve used it a few times and am finding my way as I go as the instructions don’t really give you cooking times for items not listed on the touch pad. So far, so good, stews and casseroles have turned out tasty and take far less cooking time than my oven, being able to sauté and then cook the dish in one pot is a plus as less washing up. Absolutely great for one pot meals, meat stays moist and tends not to dry out. Lots of other options to use this for as I am yet to try. Since I’ve had this and along with my airfryer I have not turned my big oven on. Does take a small amount of guesswork for some meals but would recommend this.

More than just a pot, a friend
Some points for you to consider just it arrived : there is a smell of plastic as it is pretty new, however it is harmless. if it bothers you too much, try boiling some water with vinegar+baking soda in it. i found this approach did the trick for me Usage : i use it mainly for cooking rice, and i bought this one for the Delay timer. I usually bring rice to the office for lunch, so, i clean and prep the rice in the pot the previous night, and set a delay timer so that it starts cooking 30minutes just before I wake up. depending on the quantity you are cooking, it can be done around the time you get up, or just about finished cooking so you can do other tasks before turning it off. there is also a steam tray, so the wife uses it for steaming buns and dumplings. it also has a lovely Keep Warm function, which works quite well. i have not had the chance to use the other function, but there is a recipe book that goes with it for cooking chicken, beef, pasta, etc. cleaning this is also easy, however, i must caution against stains. as is with most rice pots, do not clean the inside with hard mesh/brush or god forbid, steel wool. it will degrade the non-stick covering. if the stains are tough, you can try "soaking" it with water and leaving it overnight. the outside and the inside must be cleaned and dried thoroughly. avoid cooking with the outside of the pot wet or having food waste sticking to it, as it will char and damage the surface. the top exhaust is removable and makes for easier clean. do not forget to check the water basin located at the back(beneath the hinge) where excess water may have overflowed. Guys,if you have old food that you want heated up by the time you wake up, you can use the DIY setting to set up duration and temp, then add a delay timer so that 8t finishes by the time your delay is up. If you set cool time to 30 mins and delay of 2 hrs,it will start heating up at 1:30 so that it finishes in time for the delay to complete. This is an amazing find for such an affordable price!!!!
