Vacuum mop robots continue to impress in recent years.
What an amazing time saver. The experience since the vacuum robots from 5 years ago is so much different today. I have 5 people in my household with 3 cats. There is a daily blast of crumbs, pet hair, loose long human hair that I constantly tackle every day. There isn't a way around it, I must vacuum and mop every day to keep my home decently clean. Finding time to do so is also hard. If I miss a single day of cleaning my home looks absolutely terrible. I've been through a few generations of vacuum robots that made automation impossible. From jamming, ineffective random bumping into objects, hair clogs on the under brush - these things made even using the vacuum robots a PIA. It's not perfect but I finally found one where I can just run it and trust it to clean my floors. This vacuum mop is amazing. It solves many of the problems that I had with previous generation vacuum/mops that always required some sort of manual intervention. - Obstacle avoidance. It is amazing at dodging and moving around objects. I set a minefield of objects and it navigated around them easily. This is on its lax detection mode as well, I can set it up for in a much more strict mode to avoid objects which I didn't even need to do. - Hair clogs. Skeptical at first but it also has a blade that cuts out the hair that tangles on its roller brush . I've been running it through many cycles and checked. Not one hair is tangled on it. I also checked the dust bag to make sure it was doing its job and its all in there. One of the biggest annoyances in previous generations was that you would have to manually open the roller and cut off all the tangled hair. This does it automatically for you. - Mopping - has been working well however I haven't had a big spill or mess so far. It has kept my floor clean with hair and bread crumbs. The mop arm extends out and cleans that extra space that it wouldn't have if it didnt. - Navigation - These new lidar equipped vacuums are amazing. They map and cover every inch of floor efficiently. The mopping after is also done in a parallel line that it knows where its mopped before. Previously my old iRobot would just randomly bump into walls and objects and just move back and fourth without direction and miss a ton of spots. - Camera/Patrol - I honestly only tried it for kicks and have not really used its patrol system much. I did snoop on my pets to test it out and it works well but maybe will only use it if I am on vacation away from home.

Works good for a short period
This thing worked awesome for the first 3 months. Have had this for about nine months, after three months it stopped mopping, so I thought if it just continues to vacuum, I will be okay with that. Then a month later, the vacuum stopped emptying the dust container, it was overflowing with dirt and pet hair, but the vacuum bag was totally empty. We cleaned this robot vacuum once a week including all sensor, so in other words, we took very good care of this. We tried for a couple of weeks, but the unit will not empty the dust bin anymore. Also, intermittently, it will be vacuuming and all the sudden it stops and will not go, it will vacuum in place, without moving an inch, I will put it back on docking station and the next week it will start to vacuum and all the sudden same thing, stops in place . We contacted Eureka through the support on the app, told them first about the unit not mopping anymore and they responded with a trouble shooting list, we did everything and it still will not mop, during testing through the app, the mop heads get wet so there is no clog, it is a software issue. We wrote and said the troubleshooting did not help and they never responded and have not to this day. When you spend a thousand dollars on a vacuum robot, you expect good quality, they should have had their engineers take this thing home and use it for 6 months before even thinking about selling to the public, from the other reviews, this thing seems to have some issues going on quite a bit. I wanted to tell my 1.2 million followers' good things about this robot vac but I will have to let them all know this thing is a pile of junk, I do not want other people getting a poor product.

(Updated review 2/2025 much better!) Skips and dumps material
### Updated Review: Eureka J15 – A Redemption Story (5 Stars) After nearly returning my Eureka J15, I decided to take a step back and conduct a more thorough investigation into its performance issues. Initially, I believed the underbelly of the vacuum was clean, but upon closer inspection, I discovered it was completely clogged with a cat toy. This human error was the root cause of the poor edge-cleaning performance I had experienced. So, a word to the wise: if your J15 isn’t performing as promised, dig deeper into potential issues before writing it off. To put the J15’s capabilities into perspective, I had previously purchased a comparable Shark robot vacuum, which I only used in vacuum mode. After resolving the clog in the J15, I realized that the Eureka far surpasses the Shark, especially in its AI-driven features. The J15’s cleaning performance is now exceptional, and I’ve made it a habit to regularly check the underbelly (debris compartment) to ensure it remains obstruction-free. What truly sets the J15 apart is its impressive array of features. The software and app are highly customizable, allowing me to tailor the cleaning experience to my home’s unique needs. I also love the built-in lights, which enhance visibility and add a touch of flair. The AI is nothing short of top-notch—unlike other robot vacuums I’ve tried, the J15 navigates flawlessly, never crashing into walls or getting stuck. The camera feature is another highlight, enabling me to monitor its progress throughout my home in real time, which is both practical and fun. Ultimately, the J15 has won me over. It offers an incredible amount of functionality through its app, and its cleaning performance, once the clog was cleared, is outstanding. I now confidently give it five stars, as it delivers exceptional value and innovation for the price. --- ### Original Review: Eureka J15 – Initial Disappointment (2 Stars) Is anyone else noticing the subpar performance of the Eureka J15? I wanted to love this vacuum—I really did—but my initial experience left much to be desired. Transitioning from a flat living room carpet to hardwood floors, the vacuum seemed to scatter debris everywhere. Every time it encountered a rug or a slight bump, it struggled to lift properly, leaving messes behind instead of cleaning them up. Then, a new issue arose, which gave me further pause. After a planter tipped over, we cleaned up most of the dry dirt and let the robot vacuum the area twice. At first glance, it appeared to do an adequate job. However, when I followed up with my plug-in vacuum, I could hear dirt still being sucked out of the carpet, indicating the J15 had missed a significant amount. Given these experiences, I began to question whether the J15 was worth its price tag. Disappointed and unimpressed, I seriously considered returning it. My plan was to try a different brand to see if another model might handle transitions between rooms and floor types more effectively, without spreading debris in the process. Sorry, Eureka—I had high hopes, but this vacuum initially fell short.

Cleans and mops well, easy setup and maintenance, great our medium size apartment
Bought this because our apartment is half hardwood floor, half rugs, and pretty high traffic. We have it set up to go through 2 bedrooms, a very long hallway, as well as a decent size kitchen and living room area. Setup was actually way simpler than I thought with the app. Marking borders for vacuuming and mopping separately was also a breeze (you dont want to be mopping your carpet obviously!). Vacuum function is pretty good at the medium setting (you can vary the vacuum strength). Avoids obstacles well and comes back to a place if something is in the way or it didnt pick it up right the first time or it has to go empty itself. Self cleaning for the vacuum (where it empties in the base) is also good. Got a thin piece of plastic from a 3D print caught in there one time but all it did was make a racket, we easily removed it bc the entire thing can be opened as well as all the compartments in the base to get to anything that might be acting funny. Mop functionality is also good. We keep it simple with just plain room temperature water and air drying although it does have hot water and hot drying modes, havent tried those yet. Our kitchen is usually a mess by evening and it looks quite spotless by the time we are done with dinner. Waking up to a clean kitchen for the rest of the day is great, love only having to deal w the dishes at the end of everything. Attached a video where you can see the thing in action. We thought we told it to avoid the shag rug but we actually didnt define the borders well enough, it was a simple change in the app and the vacuum avoided it from then onwards! Another plus is the unlimited amount of settings in the app. cant go over them all here, but the clean modes are infinitely customizable. Oh, it also knows to avoid common objects like animals :)

Stay away.
This vacuum met all my expectations and was a great purchase for a few months. I have large dogs who are messy drinkers, and this vacuum handled the job efficiently without getting “muddy” like my previous one when it accidentally ran over some water. It seemed to detect the water and lift the brush. Setting it up was easy, and I was thoroughly satisfied with it until the roller brush stopped spinning. It’s been over a month since the issue arose, and I’ve had a frustrating experience with customer support. They’ve been unhelpful and have repeatedly asked me to perform troubleshooting that doesn’t even match my model. The latest insult is that they’re insisting that I provide proof of having paid off my credit card to process my warranty claim, even though I used a 12-month no-interest deal on my credit card when I purchased the vacuum. My brother, who also purchased the same model after seeing mine in action, is facing a similar issue with his roller brush not spinning. He’s also having a frustrating interaction with support. Based on my experience, I strongly advise against purchasing this vacuum. It’s not worth the trouble and the hassle of dealing with customer support. UPDATE Feb 2026: Still dealing with support four months later. Seriously, stay away.

Floors are always clean!
We have owned the robot for a few weeks now. We absolutely love it and our floors have never been cleaner. One reviewer mentioned that bags are not available. This has been resolved now and I purchased replacement consumables (bags, brushes and filter) from Eureka’s website. We have owned robotic vacuums before, but this is our first smart robotic vacuum. It is a game changer compared to the old non-smart devices. The app is very complete and easy to use. Our main floor is all hard wood with some tile. We set the schedule to vacuum and mop our floors twice per week. We run it in the evenings, so we wake up to nice, clean floors. The robot is quiet enough that we don’t really hear it when we go to bed upstairs. The app has “quiet hours”, so the base station does not automatically empty the robot’s dust bin if it finishes during quiet hours. I really like this feature because I like to manually empty the dust bin to see how much it collected (and it prolongs the life of the base station’s bags). We have a short haired cat and I am amazed at how much hair and dirt the vacuum collects from our floors. The mapping accuracy is very good. I took it to our upstairs area to clean. It interpreted the stairwell as a room and tried repeatedly to clean this area. The ledge protection worked well to save it from falling down the stairs. I have since blocked that area of the map as a no-go zone. The mop goes through more water than I expected. I usually refill the clean water tank and empty the dirty after each operation. It could probably make it through two cleanings, but it is easy enough to address it proactively. The amount of water the mops use is adjustable in the app and I find that near-minimum water level is sufficient to clean our floors really well. I’m very pleased that we purchased a robot with spinning mops (versus vibrating pads). I honestly don’t know how I could be happier with this robot. I feel like Eureka did a great job with the hardware and software. And I trust that Eureka will be around to support it in the future.

Not good, but Eureka gave me my money back.
I bought this vacuum just under a year ago (July will be a year). When I 1st bought it I loved it. It cleaned and emptied well. The mopping feature was really good. I liked the self-cleaning mops. It didn't get hung-up like my older vacuum would . Then after a few months I would get errors; "Mopping tray full of water"-OK, cleaned mopping tray , "Clean sensors"-OK, clean sensors, "Vacuum not in base"-OK reposition the base. Then after about 7 months, every time I would use it I would have to go through a list of errors multiple times before I could get it to clean correctly. Then it would go back to base in the middle of a cleaning, even if it still had 80% battery, and would not restart the cleaning. Then it started having "melt-downs" in corners and just cleaning the same area over and over again. I would chat with Eureka, they would help me get through it, but it would always happen again. All of this to say, I would have given it 1 start except that Eureka did give me back my full purchase price. So I appreciate that they rectified the situation.

Don’t buy it because of the name!
So my review is going to be a bit long with both positives and negatives. Overall I would say that this is a very good vacuum…when it is working properly. I initially purchased this vacuum as a Black Friday deal. I got it on sale for $699. A great price considering the features and the eureka name and reputation. I couldn’t be more wrong on that last part. For those that do not know, the Eureka company was bought by a Chinese company Midea a few years back. They now sell rebranded Chinese products under the Eureka brand name. So much for brand quality and reputation. So let’s go to the product itself. At first it exceeded my expectations. I have two large long haired dogs and I didn’t think it would be able to handle all of their hair. Well it did! Our back yard is a sand pit and the dogs bring it in constantly. The vacuum and mop does an incredible job. I have about a 2000 sqft living space and have it vacuum and mop daily. It gets about 2 days of cleaning done before I need to refill the water tank and dump the waste water. Overall, I was very satisfied. Then after less than a month I was constantly getting errors. “The radar cover is stuck” was the primary one. I would have to get up and reset it 4-5 times per cleaning cycle. It wouldn’t do anything until you reset the radar cover. Then the robot just started spinning in circles and wouldn’t clean at all. It even got to the point that one of the mops would not retract into the housing. I had the same customer service issues that another review had. Eureka would not repair or exchange the unit. They kept sending me to Amazon. I would contact Amazon and they would refund me but not exchange it. If I returned it, I would have to pay the then current price of $999 for a new unit. So I would have to spend $300 more to get a working unit. I went back and forth with both eureka and Amazon. Eventually I had a different Amazon person reach out to me and apologized for all of the problems. They offered to send me a brand new unit and have me return the old unit. Mind you, my unit worked for less than 3 weeks. So, Amazon did as promised and sent the new unit. It too lasted for about 3 weeks before I started getting the radar issues again as well as the unit refusing to connect to the WiFi or the app. I contacted eureka again. This time they offered to refund me for the unit. I accepted the refund because at this point I knew that the unit would not last long enough to meet my needs. I decided I would just have to cut my loss and wait until there was a sale and get a shark or a different brand with better reliability. I asked the eureka representative how they wanted me to return the robot. They told me that they didn’t need it back and to just dispose of the unit. So, I waited to dispose of the unit until I received the refund. It took about 4 weeks but I received the check from eureka for the full amount that I paid. At this point I was indecisive as to what to do with the unit. I hate simply tossing something in the trash. I’m pretty good with electronic repairs so since the unit was now voided on the warranty I figured that I had nothing to lose. I took the unit apart. I found a water hose that was leaking and dirt had mixed with the water and made quite a mess on the inside. I also found that one of the connections on a bump sensor that was connected to the radar housing was loose and would cause the sensor to lose contact intermittently. I soldered the wire correctly. I also placed a clamp on the water hose that was leaking. Then cleaned the entire unit. I figured if I could get it to work until I could get a different unit then that would do. Well it has worked flawlessly for about two months now. No radar issues. Nothing wrong at all. So, I will keep using the unit until it stops functioning and I can no longer fix it. Basically it is a good unit with bad fit and finish and questionable reliability with absolutely no support from the Midea company. (Eureka by name only). So, if you are buying this because of brand recognition, don’t. Also, don’t get the white unit! Yes, it looks pretty at first but gets very dirty and scratched up very quickly!

Bad navigation
Where it is working, it works well. It does all the things it claims. What it doesn't say is that it will miss areas, and not come back to them. You can see on its map where it skipped, yet it doesn't seem to care. It also struggles to create a good cleaning pattern. I had a cheap model before which did a much better job creating a cleaning grid. This vacuum tries to be too "smart" for its capabilities. It would benefit greatly from being simplified in function. For seemingly no reason it will turn during what should be a straight line, drive around, then possibly come back later. It also gets confused a lot by area rugs and entry mats. Definitely set do not mop zones around rugs, as it will try to mop the first 8 inches, and slows itself down heavily. Vacuum&Mop at once setting seems slower than vacuum then mop due to how confused the machine gets. Good hardware, poor software optimization.
