Ended the annoying cluck and rattle of the receiver hitch.

Works well on a standard full connection for my hitch. Use it on my Ford F150 for several trips and will be using on my new Tundra. No issues with the performance, design or durability. Simply but well designed.

I love that this hitch tightener took the wobble out of my 2-in hitch. Because you really have to tighten up the bolts to ensure the wobble doesn't happen as you travel down the road. However, I've noticed that after several uses, the U-Bolt has bent due to the tightness required. If the nuts are not tightened sufficiently, you will not be able to attain the purpose desired; the whole thing will rattle and possibly come apart. So, if you tighten the bolts to a sufficient tightness, after a while, the bolt will begin to bend. This makes it more difficult to tighten the nuts down due to the curvature of the bolt. It seems to me that the U-Bolt is made of fairly soft steel. I went to Home Depot to try to locate something in a harder steel, but nothing was available there. So, I'm going to try a couple of trailer hitch sales outlets nearby and hope they have something in a much harder steel. If I can't, then I don't see much future for this hitch tightener without continually replacing the U-Bolt after several trips. Overall, it works as designed, I just wish the material was of higher quality.

As you probably know since you are looking at this, the tolerances of hitch accessories and hitch ball inserts vary drastically. I have a bike rack I use that has so much space it sways back and forth when pinned in. It is a 1.25" and this works well to stop the sway and the noise, but since it is made for both 2" and 1.25" the bolts need to be longer to accommodate. When installed on the 1.25" the bolts stick out toward the ground quite a bit. For truck and SUVs not likely and issue but I have a small hitch on my Honda Accord and if I back up to close to a curb the bolts hit and move this or bend the bolts. I also had this on my 2000 GMC Jimmy / Chevy Blazer that has a 2" lift and 31" tires to stop the noise and sway from my hitch mount gas and tire carrier. But similar to the Accord and curbs, since the bolts go downward and the smoother part of this is on the top and not the bottom, I bent and almost broke of the bolts while going on some decent trails. Technically you could install this with the more smooth side down, bolt ends up, but you would be forcing the hitch ball/accessory upward fighting gravity and the force down from any trailer or accessory. It might work if its not too much weight but may cause failure or bending that way as well. Up to you to consider if ground clearance is an issue for you as well.

I recently purchased a cargo carrier that attaches to my trailer hitch. All of the reviews that I read suggested purchasing this little thing. For the low cost I thought what the heck, I would throw it in my order. First we loaded the cargo trailer down with one of those oversized coolers from Costco, and then a bunch of wood. The cargo carrier kind of rocked a little as it was not really a tight fit, so we worried about it bouncing around. So we added this little thing on, and it really made the full thing stable. We headed out into the mountains, hit lots of bumps, and took lots of super tight turns. The cargo carrier DID NOT MOVE! It was solid. Thank you fellow reviewers for your advice. I only wish that the item came with instuctions, but we must have figured it out okay.

These eliminate the wiggle between the hitch receiver and the hitch bar or extender, I have an extender on my hitch receiver for a eBike rack, these bikes are heavy and they are on the back of my 5th wheel so any elimination of an extra whip that the bike rack might get from bumps or dips in the road worth the extra cost. It is well built and has held up great.

This is a fine product. If you run a search for “hitch tightener installation” and view the videos, they generally show that the curved lip of this device should be positioned on the male side of the hitch connection (i.e., on the stem of your attached item - bike rack; trailer) rather than the female side of the hitch (the hitch component attached to the underside of the vehicle). However, several Amazon review photos show the reverse and I am not sure it makes a difference. As several reviewers have noted, the U-bolt screw ends are too long for 1 ¼” hitches, and this can lead to bending over time, making it impossible to unscrew the attaching nuts and thus loosen the hitch tightener enough to enable you to pull out your hitched item (you might have to cut the U-bolt). My solution for achieving an even more sturdy connection and reducing the risk of bolt bending for those 1 1/4” hitches was to order and install two hitch tighteners. I also positioned the U-bolt upside down so the tightening nuts are on the top and so can be more easily retightened after heavy use. This way you can place the plates both above and below the hitch, plus get a spare U-bolt. Given the importance of securing your attached cargo, paying an extra $10 or so seems like a good insurance policy for me.

Simple to install and silenced that bang and rattle. Don't believe the low star reviews, this isn't gonna fix a cheapo weight distribution hitch or enlighten folks who can't tighten bolts. If you have a utility trailer and a uni-body SUV or light truck this will do what is says and kill that rattle easily. Plus it's cheaper than the ones at the local auto parts store.
