Garvin CBC-800 Recessed Blank-Up Cover Plate, 8-Inch Diameter, Steel, White

used this to cover an off-center recessed light. it works great and will blend better when we paint it but we've already forgotten it's there. then we used a separate kit to reinforce a recessed light and install a traditional fixture over our kitchen table.

I saw some reviews that this product is expensive. However, it is very well made and is very easy to install. It is the safest way to hide a recessed light fixture that has rusted out or no longer needed. I recommend spending the money. All the other ones I found are very cheap and don't sit properly against the ceiling.

As an electrician's daughter i've just come to realize over the years that electrical things that wouldn't bother "normal" people bother the hell out of me. The builder of my house went ham on putting hi hats in our first floor open concept kitchen/living area and it was way too bright, even with a dimmer. I haven't had a bulb in one of them in several years and looking up at this black hole irritated me to no end. We have 12' ceilings and the hi hats take BR lamps which are longer than a normal flood-style looking lamps so the hole looked deep and dark and massive lolI have been looking for a blank cover plate to cover this hole up FOREVER and never quite found the right one that I could use without taking the trim out (I didn't want to leave a rough edge). This was exactly what I was looking for but jfc why is it $35?? This is the only reason why it wasn't rated 5 stars tbh, even tho it really does deserve it. I literally cannot believe I spent that much on this thing but it's pretty perfect did exactly what I was hoping for. The mid-sized spring worked perfectly and it snapped up right into place and the width of the plate covered up the entire trim ring completely.Our ceilings are painted antique white and the plate is white but from an angle and a distance it blends in pretty well. (Again, something that I see and notice but nobody else would prob even see it).

When you have 8" can's light opening that needs to be covered, this is really the only way to go. Springs pull the cover up to the ceiling to hold it tight and make a nice-looking cover.Seems to be good quality. Not plastic.

Pricey but heavy duty extra large metal cover. I love that it's very thin and well constructed so worth the ridiculous price for permanently removed lighting. I removed the recessed light tunnel and safed off (wire-nutted) the light feeds in the fixture electrical box before installing this.

In a common hallway, we've left 2 of 3 ceiling can lights off (burned out bulb) to save electricity (it's bright enough anyway), but never liked the "burned out bulb" look of neglect. These were perfect to cap them off in a much cleaner way, without paying for an electrician to actually remove them and then repairing the drywall. VERY easy to install. But rather overpriced, considering there's nothing to them but a piece of steel plate, a spring, and a rubber socket screw-in piece.

I thought these might be a bit high on price, but considered the alternative of patching and painting, your can't bet it. After I installed, I glued up a 5" medallion to cover plate. Worked great.

Choose the correct spring length depending how deep your light bulb socket is3. Connect 1 end of spring to black plug4. Connect other end of spring to white cover5. Align cover so the entire whole is coveredIf cover is lose / not snug, try a shorter spring.
