Lip IV Hydrating Glossy Lip Stain, Long-Lasting, Tinted, Vegan Formula with 12 HR Hydration - Hydra Honey (Brown)

Instant favorite, I want to put this on all the time! I usually dislike lipgloss, and bought this because I wanted a stain that didn't feel as dry as some do. But the gloss is also fantastic -- it doesn't have that sticky feel, it doesn't attract hair, and it feels so incredibly hydrating from the minute I put it on. It does very slightly feather into my vertical wrinkles around my mouth (they are fairly deep, since I'm nearly fifty and smoked most of my life), but nothing near as much as other glossy lipsticks and glosses, and I have to really examine myself up close to even notice. If I wipe off the gloss after ten minutes to just wear the stain, it doesn't look like it went into those lines at all. The stain lasts me about 8 hours (depending on what I eat -- greasy things will ofc remove it faster), but I honestly want to reapply the gloss at that point anyway. It also comes off evenly -- I haven't had the issue of color staying bright and solid all around my lips, but being gone in the middle. The smell (and taste) is similar to coconut oil -- faint coconut, and very "natural" -- not the cloying fake coconut smell you get in some cosmetics. With its being so hydrating (I feel it work better than most of my lip care products, including the famous LaNeige lip sleeping mask -- and yeah, I tried putting it on before bed, and the glossy look and hydrating feeling were still there the next morning), and so versatile, I think this is about the best value for your money you can get. Small downside: the color swatches don't feel super accurate -- even those where they show all colors on different skin tones. I expected this to be a bit more muted and more pink, and instead this color ended up being bright red, like a true bright red lip, which is a bit less wearable. The stain is fine, but also veers red. I have pale olive skin, and my lips aren't very naturally colored, so any stain definitely shows up bright, and that's fine, but a red lip isn't always the best choice for a daytime look, so I wish the name and the swatches would be a little more accurate. I will be buying more colors, though, cause I love it just that much.

This is a great, hydrating lip stain! It adheres best on dry clean lips, no balm prior this way it’ll grip to your lips best. It’s definitely pretty shiny when you first put it on, but if you’re not wanting that look you can simply do a light blot, which I like to do- or, once you drink and eat a bit that glossy look will naturally fade. I love the faded stain, and throughout the day you can apply chapstick once it’s faded to rejuvenate the dry stain a bit. I provided two photos, one of the product freshly applied, then what it looks like as a subtle stain after half a day of wear and activity. I’ve bought more expensive, “viral” lip stains that disappointed me. This NYX product surprised and impressed me, and I have now purchased it twice. I so far have only tried it in the color Hydra Honey, which is a nice berry neutral.

Update: a couple days of use and the pigment separated and somehow came out, maybe through pressure and made a got all over my sink. But it still works the same, slightly less pigment. Almost like oil on water separation. Other than that I would still purchase it but it was odd I’m impressed; an affordable lipstick that fades nicely and doesn’t smell overly artificial and sweet. It lasted only a couple hours before fading, leaving my lip slightly unevenly coated when it did fade. However, I used bubblegum shade so it wasn’t noticeable. If it were a darker shade it might not be as flattering. The scent is very light. Only the faintness of coconut. It also was not sticky and instead felt like a nice lip balm on. It wasn’t too glossy either. I don’t think this lighter shade stained as much as I thought. I might try a darker shade to determine.

I am completely obsessed with the NYX Lip IV! Obsessed! I've never been a fan of glosses because they get all over stuff and never really "stick" but this is like a gloss AND a stain. It's glossy for maybe 30-45 minutes and then turns into a stain. I can keep applying to freshen the shine but the color stays. I've not really tested one application for longer than 3 hours but the color stayed for that long at least. As far as moisturizing, the jury's out. My lips didn't feel particularly supple but not dry either. Also the taste/fragrance is neutral to pleasant. It certainly wasn't gross to me. I think my only complaint at all is the applicator. It's flimsy. After one use, it bends so you have to be gentle-ish or use it the other direction after it bends (after 1 use). So there you have it. I'd buy it again because I love the gloss stain itself, if not the applicator.

The product is good and I like it a lot. Moisturizing, leaves a nice color after. Not terribly long lasting but you only need to retouch once or twice during the day. BUT, the colors are not as shown. I've ordered two now that are just a shade / tone off from what is in the picture. One was a dramatic difference - the drippin' rose is definitely more of a reddish brown. Regardless, all of the colors are one color while wet, fading to about the same tint when dry. I am keeping and using them - a very nice product actually.

I’m really impressed with the NYX Glossy Lip Stain.It feels lightweight and comfortable on the lips while giving a beautiful pop of color and a glossy, hydrated look. I especially love that it doesn’t feel heavy or sticky, and the color lasts nicely throughout the day. It’s easy to apply, looks fresh and flattering, and is perfect for everyday wear. Definitely a product I would recommend and purchase again!

Just fyi, the NYX "Hydrating Gloss Serum" and "Hydrating Gloss Stain" are the exact same product. I called NYX to get clarification, and they said that the name changed slightly along the way, but it's the exact same staining gloss (even if the tube doesn't say "Stain" anymore). This was confusing to me and caused me to return the product twice to Amazon, thinking they had sent me the wrong gloss. (I recommend the listing clarify this for other observers of details!) I really like this gloss, and I'm not even a big gloss person (typically wear lipsticks). It's not as sticky feeling as some glosses, and it does stain your lips some after the shine wears off. For me, it's not like an all-day stain, but...for a few hours I still had some color. I like the applicator. It's easy to apply. The scent is fine. The color I purchased (Drippin in Rose) is gorgeous. (Can't wait to try other colors) No objection to how it tastes. It's definitely moisturing. I think most people who like lip glosses will appreciate this product, especially at this reasonable price point.

Absolutely lovely glosses. Not sticky, beautiful shine, easy application. Shades are darker than shown on photos so be mindful the photos advertised are colour enhanced and brightened up. These leave a lovely lip stain too. Great quality, fragrance isnt strong. Great value for money.

This is a beautiful lip gloss/stain. If you want a more intense colour you can wear as a lip gloss, and if you want less colour or more of a lip stain look you can blot the colour until you’re happy with the result. I want to try other colours too.
