A Real Dive Knife
This knife for me is a dream come true. I have been using an identical one for the last 10 or 15 years; made by Sporasub. Mine had a green handle but now they are black and made by Mares. Exact same knife. So sad when I lost mine a few weeks ago; because most of the knives I see these days are little pitiful things. The Mares is a perfect size and has an actual handle, not a thin grip that is easy to drop. The sheath holds it solidly; my old one was missing the rubber ring, but it stayed in just fine just with the friction fit. Never saw one bit of rust in 15 years. Only possible improvement would be to have a hole through the end of the handle so you can attach a lanyard, but possibly you can drill it. This is a really good knife for spearfishing, and I use it to clean scallops underwater as well. Highly recommended.

A good diving knife overall for the price
A good diving knife overall for the price. The handle has clearly visible moulding lines and the rubber feels elcheapo but the blade is solid and i love the holder. The snap on straps are pretty short.

awesome product,Kinda sad that they don't pu the lanyard loop on the base like they used to, but non the less awesome knife that is pretty much the same as the vintage 60's one that I have.

Works great with a couple mods
Silicon grease the tong. Not totally rust proof.I added a nylon strap to the top loop cause the rubber strap alone flexes too much when unsheathing. Also clipped a few millimeters off the hooks that hold the handle in the sheath. With these mods it's a great knife.I'm 6 foot and this fits inside my calf fine. Too big to be strapped to my arm. Might be too big for shorter peoples' calves.

Not as well made as before...
I had this knife for years, but lost it while spearfishing recently. Bought another one. Seems cheaply made now. Materials don't look or feel as well made. I don't think I would buy another one.

So so
Not sure it's a true Mares, seems cheap for the asking price. I'll keep but would not buy again.
