E-COCO PRODUCTS UK SPECIFIC-PURPOSE ORGANIC COMPOST FOR GROWING CONIFERS, BUXUS & LAURUS NOBILIS IN CONTAINERS. Different plants have different needs. Our specific-purpose range of composts has been created to meet the individual needs of the plant varieties you choose to grow. Multi-purpose composts do not achieve this. Conifers, Buxus (Box) and Laurus Nobilis (Bay) in general require a neutral to alkaline (7.0 - 8.0) pH compost. Cocopeat, the main element of our growing media, has an acid pH range of 5.8 - 6.5, so we have added 25% rice husk ash to this compost. Rice husk ash has a high pH, so by adding it in specific amounts to lower pH growing media, the pH rises incrementally. The pH of this compost is slightly alkaline. In addition to rice husk ash (which is also available separately in our ebay shop), our base material is washed cocopeat (EC: 0.5 mS/cm) with natural rooting hormones and good moisture retention. This is important because pot and planter grown plants tend to dry out quicker than plants grown in the ground. In addition we use crushed coco husk chips to help conserve moisture and air throughout the root systems of your plants; silica rich heat-treated rice husks for strong cell development in young plants and good drainage; coconut husk charcoal for very good drainage and fresh compost, and finally an organic slow-release fertilizer. We are always looking at ways to be more environmentally friendly, so for that reason we are no longer using full colour labels, as we used to in the past, and we use recycled packaging materials where possible.
