Not very absorbent. When washed they fray terribly.

These are exactly as described. Small cotton squares, they look great. Because they are a little hard and small, I think they make better coasters for parties than napkins but can be used for both. It doesn't say whether they are washable but as cotton, I guess they are if you can be bothered to iron after! If single use, a bit pricey but very convenient and look nice.
