The Scott's Turf builder Gold Blend was easy to use, complete instructions were printed on package, shows the various types of spreaders that you can use and patterns best for disbursement of seed mix. Germination was fairly quick; we had some delay due to water restrictions. Once increased water came available you could see the appearance of new grass and blend into existing lawn. Pricing was a little more expensive than some brands but worth it for greener color of grass and better lawn appearance.

This stuff works! Just water the area everyday for a week or so.

This Scotts Turf Builder Thick'R tall fescue blend is a great way to salvage chunks of your fescue lawn that have fallen into disrepair due to pets (urine), animals (you name it) or just is starting to look a bit thin. For those of us that live in the "between line" fescue is one of the best choices of grasses to handle heat or cold and sun and shade. The downside is that this variety does not use shoots underground to spread. You plant a seed you get a grass and if something tears it up or damages it there isn't anything replacing it until you drop more seed and/or use a kit like this. I find that the Thick'R solutions work well ableit they are pricey. Some will say you can mix your own kit containing mulch or straw along with seed but I've had hit or miss results doing that. This kit pretty much guarantees you will get that bald spot fixed. This is about the same price as the big box stores but nice and convenient through Amazon. About the only better way to get this product is if you can use a coupon or catch a sale. Spring is right around the corner so be on the lookout! 5/5 stars for these reasons.

I recommend this Scotts Turf Builder Thick'R Southern Gold Blend for Tall Fescue Lawns, it contains Grass Seed, Fertilizer and a Soil Improver. I had tried a variety of Soil treatment methods, Thatching, removing soil and Aeration to improve the front lawn at our Tennessee Lake House, to no avail. The lawn has a mixture of shade providing native trees and open areas that get Full Sun all day. We had great success with this 40 lb. Bag of Scotts Turf Builder Thick'R Southern Gold Blend, it has greatly improved the soil and the Southern Gold Blend of Tall Fescue has come up in a uniform height and thickness. It has stopped the out of control moss growth from returning. We will continue with this Scotts blend again in the Spring. This product reversed a moss covered lawn, the 3 in 1 Formula of Seed, Fertilizer and Soil Improver was the perfect solution to a long standing Lawn issue. The thicker, greener Tall Fescue Lawn is exactly what we had been looking for. The Formula works great iwith the conditions in South Eastern Tennessee. We recommend this Scotts Thick'R Lawn 40 lb. Bag, it covers up to 4,000 square feet and was less expensive than all of the local products I had purchased prior to using Scotts.

I spread this seed in early to mid-February of this year (2025). I didn't have much hope for it to grow since it was still a bit cold out, and I have a lot of shaded areas. I watered it plenty on the hotter days, and to my surprise, it has grown beautifully. It is very green and lush, and it is filling in my bare spots. I'm most pleased that it has grown in my shady spots, which I've tried to grow grass in for years. I will have to see how it holds up once it gets shadier and hotter. So far it has stood up to somewhat heavy foot traffic. My only negative comment is that I have a lot of hairy bittercress or shoot weed come up. I don't know if it is from this seed bag or not, but this is the first year that my front yard has been covered by this weed.
