Keter 17197729 Rockwood Deck Box, 150 gallon

This is initially heavy in the cardboard box but was delivered down to our house (1/4 mile drive) and was leaned against our garage by UPS. It is lighter when put together and easy for two to move once set-up as there is a hand slot on each end. It arrived in 'excellent condition' and was VERY easy to put together in about 1/2 hour for an old fart. Very well written instructions and 15 screws; a power Phillips-head screw driver (light duty, low voltage, cordless type) is a benefit too, but besides scissors, knife, or cutters to open the box (my box was taped and wrapped with 3 wrap-around 1/2' wide woven plastic straps to hold the box together, but a Philips head screwdriver is all that is needed besides something to cut the shipping straps. At one point the instructions suggest 2 people (one to hold the lid in position which is light) while the other screws the hinges to the main box. This box is amazingly good to have, especially with the pneumatic lid lifters that help you lift it, also, keeps it open. "Wow". It is very well-built and metal reinforced so I cannot imagine it ever warping; 8 weeks in the sun, wind and rain and it is fine. It can be locked to keep it closed securely. Normal wind cannot open it. It could likely be forced open by a knowledgeable person to steal something as it IS plastic and IS snapped-together!!. I would not keep valuables in it. It is. I looks very nice. Dark brown (shows white bird poop). Great, sturdy enough for 2 to sit on (up to 700 lbs. total, I believe). I highly recommend this patio storage box, would buy another again, and I hope this helps someone. Everything stays dry in a driving rain.Update on 2nd and 3rd unit: They arrived, separately, in excellent condition, also. The 2nd took about 15 minutes and by myself. No help was needed with the lid, to put it together, the same with the 3rd unit but it only took about 10 minutes to put it together. They are all great andI highly recommend this patio box so far, over my 2 smaller SunCasts. They all look very nice, too! I had ordered a 3rd as the first two were great. I would order this through 'Amazon' Prime. even though it states it will not ship for 3 weeks, as all three shipped in a couple days and it has a good price.Last Update: I ordered a 4th and 1-3 are great. It arrived in excellent condition and took me about 5 minutes to put together. I highly recommend these. the ones on Frontgate run $1000 plus shipping and they are smaller. These store a lot of cushions At about 1/10th the cost. Great quality, features, and size!

I moved into a new apartment last month which, to my dismay, didn't have a storage closet off the balcony like I expected. My boyfriend and I had been relying on the storage area at our old place pretty heavily so this was a devastating blow. Luckily, I am a genius and thought of the brilliant idea to get one of these deck boxes to store our extra crap in.Since our balcony isn't huge and we do sit out there occasionally, I didn't want something ugly we'd have to look at all the time. We had a fair amount of junk we wanted to stuff away, so we needed something fairly large. And, given the fact that we'd just moved (which we all know can be a great expenditure), we couldn't afford anything too pricey. So with those three criteria, this is what we got.It came quickly, packed well with an abundance of styrofoam (that might be my one complaint: little bits of styrofoam got everywhere). Assembly was a bit intimidating at first just because it's such a large item, but it was really quite easy. I did it alone (although it'd definitely be easier with two people) and quickly. Most of the pieces just click together; the hardest part is probably attaching the hydraulic top lifter-upper pieces, but even that wasn't bad. And as you might be able to tell, I'm not incredibly handy.I was nervous about the "weather-proofness" of it. Since we were planning on storing cardboard boxes and other things that really shouldn't get wet, it was pretty important to me that there wouldn't be any leaking. I got to test that out right away; the day after I received this, we had about 4 days of rain. It wasn't hurricane weather or anything (not that we really get that here in the golden state), but it was certainly wet outside and this box kept everything nice and dry. Time will tell if it'll stand up to several rainy winters, but it's done well so far.Overall, I'm impressed with how well this box protects everything in it. I also like the look of it; it's not an eyesore out on my balcony. I definitely recommend it as a space-saving solution if you have a bit of patio space.

We were looking for a nice, dark-looking wood or rattan outdoor storage box. The two we settled on were either this product, or the pottery barn outdoor wood storage box. We decided on this box because it didn't require any maintenance such as sanding and restaining. It also is lighter making it easier to move, and it is half as expensive. The product just arrived and I assembled it last night. Assembly was very quick and easy. The box is constructed from a plastic material which is intended to have a "wood-look". Up close it is clearly not wood, but the dark color and slatted appearance make it the best looking plastic storage box I have seen so far. We're pleased with the overall look of it together with our existing outdoor furniture. When it is assembled it seems quite sturdy and has no problem supporting two adults for bench seating just as advertised. Also, it is one of the larger storage boxes available capable of holding a hefty 150 gallons. Overall, our first impression after assembly is very good. The box is just what we were hoping for in terms of appearance, size, weight, and ability to provide additional seating. The only unknown for us is how well it holds up to the elements, which is the reason its received four instead of five stars. I plan on updating this review in a year to address this.Addendum: After having the box for a full year, we remain very pleased with it. Throughout a hard winter all of the contents remained dry. It was also fairly easy to clean with just soap and water. As of now I would highly recommend the box as it has functioned well for us.

Very easy to assemble indoors. We noticed scratches on the side but we decided to let them go. However, when we took it outside to add the lid, it was a different colour and didn't seem a very good fit. Even the padlock brackets, one on the box and one on the lid, didn't line up. It looks scruffy, more like an old, used item than the new item it was supposed to be. I have arranged a return and will have a think about whether to buy a replacement or simply keep my cushions indoors.

Would recommend this product, and company,quick delivery and easy to assemble, but there was a damaged hinge , probably not the fault of the supplier, but did take 3 e mails and nearly 3 weeks to receive the replacement, but to be fair it did arrive, and the response to queries was really quick, so would deffo use them again,

If there there is rain on the top and the lid is opened the water runs down inside the back therefore it not weatherproof as described. A small piece of polythene under the lid rectifies this problem. Very good once this modification has been made.

What is really useful with this box is you can double up as a bench seat, within reason. We've had it out with our cushions and garden rugs in it and truly it stays dry and no mildew or damp spells. Worth the bite travel itcost over cheaper storage boxes.

So far so good. Easy to assemble, I did it on my own in about 20-30 minutes. It takes my cushions and so far has been totally waterproof even through the recent high winds and heavy rain. I’m hoping it remains the same, in which case it was a very good buy.
