(Ocimum sanctum, or Tulasi) Green-leaved Ram Tulsi variety.Perennial . Tulasi (Sanskrit:-Surasa) has been used for thousands of years in Ayurveda. It is mentioned in the Charaka Samhita, an ancient Ayurvedic text. Marked by its strong aroma and astringent taste, it is regarded in Ayurveda as a kind of "elixir of life". Don't buy expensive Tulsi tea. Grow your own! It grows like crazy and is super easy to grow. HOW TO GROW: Tulsi can be grown all year long in containers. It is suitable for apartment dwellers and gardeners who live in cool regions. Tulsi Basil plants benefit from regular fertilizer feeding. DO NOT COVER the seeds with soil but gently press into soil. Keep moist, not letting the seeds dry out between watering. Also, the SOIL should be kept consistently warm at 70-85F. If the indoor temperature is 70, the soil temp would be about 10 deg cooler than that. Cool soils, below about 60-65F, even just at night, will significantly delay or inhibit germination. Additionally, overly warm soils, well above 90F, can inhibit germination and provide ideal conditions for seed rot. Over watering can cause fungal growth which leads to seed rot. Excess water can also bury seeds deep in the soil where they will not be able break the surface. Water when the soil surface just begins to dry. Keep the container covered with a plastic bag on the top of the fridge or near the water heater where the room temperature is higher, therefore the soil temperature is perfect for germination. Allow proper air circulation for containers (make small holes in the cover). When the plants reach about 2" tall, transplant to larger containers or outdoors. SOIL Temperature for Germination: 70-75F Spacing: Rows 18 in. apart; thin 6-8 inches Hardiness: Zones 4-9 Sun Requirement: Full sun/ Part. Shade Days to Germination: 14-21 Germination Rate: 93% Review: Very good seeds - Good quality seeds. Almost 100% germination as said. Though I sowed only a small batch almost all germinated: recommend this product Review: No germinate - None germinate. Disappointed.

Growing well.
They seemed to grow better in the second planting, in which I stirred the soil lightly after planting the seeds.

The seeds actually germinate!
We live in south Florida where we have decent sunlight round the year. We planted these seeds in a pot and watered them lightly everyday. We put the pot facing south but not in direct sunlight. After 2 weeks, the seeds germinated into healthy looking plants which we have now transplanted into individual pots. We will see how they grow over the next few weeks, but so far looking good.
