Ematic 4 GB Video MP3 Player with 2.4-Inch Screen, Built-in 5MP Digital Video Camera, FM Radio, TV Out, and Speaker (Black)

This is Amy's husband Alan writing this (and I have really written MOST of these reviews, to be honest) and this eMatic MP3/MP4 gadget is the bee's knees. It can do everything my cheap little prepaid Net10 phone can't do. It plays music, displays pictures, plays videos, records music straight from the FM radio, is expandable with microSD cards I already have from a Rumor 2 I used to own, records videos, takes 5MP pictures (they are fuzzy though), and file transfers are a snap with my computer.Here are some helpful hints:1) Use the silicone case or you'll get fingerprints all over the thing.2) Use the supplied cleaning cloth to keep the screen and the camera lens clean.3) Do not exceed 3GB of the 3.5GB storage capacity or the player will freeze up when you switch between apps. (camera, video, etc)4) If you want to listen to music in your car, buy a Griffin iTrip Universal here on Amazon (about $8 shipped) and it will charge while playing unlike most other brands of MP3 players, including Apple iPods and iPod knockoffs. (like the $15.50 one I had from eBay recently that my kids stepped on and broke)5) Be careful of the MIC port on the bottom side by the microSD slot, if you cover it with your thumb, it doesn't record much.Caveats, as this is not a perfect player, there are some small issues:a) This one I received has a small blemish on the camera lens, but you don't see it in photos. So it's a non-issue to me.b) When charging, the player does get much warmer than usual, so don't let it charge overnight. 4 hours at first, 2 hours thereafter.c) The internal speaker will not work with the FM radio, it insists you plug in headphones.d) The internal speaker has the quality of a five-year-old off-brand digital camera. Useless unless you press it up to your ear.e) It is confusing at first to learn how to navigate through the apps and the menus, but don't give up, just read the manual.I would absolutely spend $40 all over again for this unit. Can't say enough how much I enjoy having it with me. Can't say enough how I'm glad I don't have to go out and spend hundreds of dollars on a cell phone that has these features. It's small enough to carry in a shirt pocket along with my cheap little $30 prepaid cell phone. This player has more features for $40 than some players that cost twice as much. No sense buying a $150 iPod when this does the same job for so much less!

We had this unit, twice actually.We received it the first time, had to send it back. The computer would't even recognize it.So, Amazon did a great job of replacing it.I used it for an airplane trip and for a short time after. Then, for the holidays, I wanted to swap my music out with Christmas music.I managed to download the songs from it onto my computer because there were a few on it that I didn't have elsewhere. Worked fine for that.Came back a short time later to do the Christmas music and once again, the computer didn't recognize it. Once it does that, it's screwed up. There are no drivers that you can obtain from the manufacturer to download, it won't turn on and it's just dead at that point.While all the goodies that are on it sound fun and are if it is working, it is not worth the hassle of having it and then it going screwy when you most want to use it.I give the product a 1 star, just cause a 0 star doesn't exist.I give Amazon customer service a 5 star for being really easy to work with in regards to the problems we had with both units.Save your cash, research and then purchase something else.** Original Review **Actually purchased with the intention of listening to the mp3 portion on an airplane trip. The first one that arrived had something wrong with it.We actually called the manufacturer and I recommend - do not do that. The fellow that I spoke with on the phone acted like he couldn't be bothered with me, didn't care and had some place else he'd have rather been.That's ok though. Amazon's return thing was easy as pie! Filled in that the original was defective, gave a brief description of what ailed it and even printed of mailing labels to pack it back up and send it back. They sent out the new one asap and it's been working fine. Never had to even speak to an amazon rep! How kewl was that!Unit has a camera and video. Didn't really purchase it for that but we did record some video of our cat. Not bad quality. As for some of the other features, I'm not a big techno person, so I will have to see later if I can figure them out.The only thing I can really complain about, right now, I wish the battery life was longer. Not sure if it is going to last me through the entire plane flight but we shall see.The screen is cute, but little. Once I figured out how to operate it, not too hard. The instruction book is insanely little (and my over 40-eyes don't like that cute littleness anymore, LOL.)Break out the reader spectacles.Will update further when we figure out all of the other stuff or if we have anything else to add to the review.Thanks Amazon for making the replacement process so darn easy!!! Now, if the rest of life would go that smoothly....

We bought this player for our son. He is 2 years old and he loves it.It came with a clear rubber protective skin.It is easy to use and the picture quality is acceptable.We have not uploaded any of his pics yet but it looks good.One disadvantage is that there is no flash for the camera.This player is easy to download into.You do however have to charge from a USB port on your PC for 4hrs the first time and 2hrs every time after.It would be nice to have a plugin charger option (I guess I can find a generic online).Another disadvantage is that it IN NOT a touch screen.The player does have a expansion slot for SD mini in addition to the 4Gig built-in memory.The external speaker is not too loud and is clear.Our son uses the speaker instead of the earphones it came with.However, overall it is a good buy.If a 2 year old can operate and navigate this player, anyone can.What more do you expect for the priceOur family loves it!

We have had this for less than a week. Now it will not turn on. We have tried charging it with the slide switch on and off with no results. Short of disassembling it to try playing with the battery We are at our wits end. It will just not turn on. This disgusts us to no end.This product was exchanged with the seller and now seems to be functioning properly, therefore I am adjusting my review rating up to three. The exchange process was fairly painless. I am hoping that the product continues to impress.
