This book is written in so much detail and vital information other designers will not share with you,. I am a designer and seamstress and wanting to get my work moving forward and this has been a blessing of a book. It was delivered fast and have not put it down since i got it, I have to say I read it every time i have a chance to. I am a working seamstress, mom, wife, so time is limited but i have managed to keep reading. It is exciting to have a book that was written for people like me and she is so nice to have shared all her experience, knowledge and advice in this book. I would encourage anyone that wants to move their designing or sewing business forward to purchased this book , it will open your eyes and comfort you as far as how to start your business and keep it moving, more importantly move it out of your house, and so so much more.This book also has tools needed, sewing machines, books you should have to help for learning or for references, websites for recommended classes to take to improve your sewing skills, websites for designing organizations and business and so much more. Like i said it is loaded with vital info and a fun book to read. Hope this helps and good luck.

Angela Wolf's 'How to Start a Home-based Fashion Design Business' is extremely well-written and a great read for both the casual Etsy shop designer, casual home sewer, or experienced design professional. Angela thought of everything, from choosing sewing equipment and supplies, setting up your home or cut-and-sew studio shop, how to design your patterns, choosing a business name and type of entity, the importance of finding a mentor...the list goes on. I am launching my own active lifestyle brand and have little or no background in the fashion and/or apparel industry. I found Angela's story inspirational and her book very insightful...I will definitely be referring to it often!My only suggestions to Angela in her next addition is to elaborate on a few of the ins and outs of trademarking (trademark's can cost much more than $500 when registering internationally and when your product crosses multiple classes of goods and services), invaluable design and legal outsourcing options such as; Graphic River, Freelancer, 99designs, IncNow and LegalZoom...I highly recommend Angela Wolf's, 'How to Start a Home-based Fashion Design Business'

I just received this book and so far I absolutely do not regret this purchase! The book is written in a way of speaking directly to an actual human being in the industry and posing the question, "How to start a Home-based fashion business". Easy to read and in the first 10 pages I had gotten ideas that were very invaluable. I would definitely recommended this book to any and all and for the very low price that it is priced at its a no-brainer addition to any collection. You wont even notice that 15.00 missing but you WILL notice this book.

I love Angela Wolf watch her on It's sew easy all the time. Her book is extremely informative. My goal wasn't a fashion design business but some of what I do want seems close. The things she tells you for the most part will work for any textile based business. There's plenty of stuff you don't think about and Angela has since she's already been where we all are starting. It's great reading some of the ways to deal with customers. I know I didn't think about that. She tells some pretty interesting stories on dealing with customers and that you can fire a customer you can't work with.If you want to start any type of textile based business (clothes, accessories, soft furnishings, etc) this book will help.

Why is this book so very amazing for someone just venturing into the world of sewing?I started sewing thinking it would be fun and that I could make money from it without that much effort. Down the road, I ran into problems! I actually even became afraid of sewing or selling anything I made for the longest time!This book will prepare you for what's to come and how to deal with it. This book gives you a very realistic view on how to deal with many problems you will be probably encounter over your time sewing and selling.It's also jam-packed with many websites and other books that you should read. It even goes through legalities!As a bonus, it was written by Angela Wolf, who is great at speaking for Craftsy lessons, because she's a fun and exciting teacher! To anyone interested in starting their own fashion business, you NEED this book. I'm in the process of planning a dressmaking business that offers made-to-order/couture women's gowns/dresses. In her introduction, Angela Wolf says that this book contains all the information she wishes someone had told her when beginning her career in fashion/design - and this book is just that. She does an amazing job sharing a wealth of knowledge, experience, and advice. Everything is discussed from fabric sourcing, setting up a space for your business, budgeting, pricing your items to make a profit, bookkeeping, legal and ethical issues, marketing strategies, and developing a business plan, etc. In addition to that, she as shares useful charts and worksheets throughout the book, such as fabric reference worksheet, production schedule, sample one sheet, estimate cost worksheets, and a sample contract.I rarely leave reviews, but I am so pleased with this book. It is really a blessing and I make sure to keep it on hand as a reference book.

I read the first half in one sitting of several hours with my pink highlighter pen and was completely engrossed. It's fast,entertaining, and easy reading. For someone just starting out in fashion design at a small scale, this is the perfect book. I love all her pro tips, and especially her funny lessons-learned anecdotes. So glad I bought this book.

I bought this for a friend who was a fashion major in college, she said she refers back to this book to this day. It is great for anyone that is just staring out and its also a good review book for those who are already established in the industry.

Good book for starting a fashion bussiness for beginners

The title should have been "How to start a home-based sewing business".It talks a lot about how to do one-of-a-kind creations fitted for individual costumers, but doesn't share anything about how to do if you plan on having the clothes manufactured elsewhere, for instance in china. It doesn't even mention about how to make techpacks, draw flats, how to specify measurements or all the other stuff needed to get the clothes manufactured elsewhere.It is also quite light on numbers. And in general it doesn't go much into depth with anything. It gives an okay overview and a few good tips and tricks, but it doesn't give you deep knowledge into anything.

It's a really good book. Angela talks about what you need to know, life lessons, that you should avoid. I wish I read this when I wanted to get it which was 3 years ago lol, it would of saved me time, money and I would of avoided the incidents she ran into as well with clients. Definitely a must have if you are starting your own business, I wish it was longer lol I am going to read it again.

Simple to the point content. Step by step information on how to start your own sewing business. Examples of handy forms are included. Angela did not forget the home part - how to stay in balance.Really must have in sewing library.
