I’ve tried a handful of primers over the years, but this Maybelline primer really surprised me in the best way! It goes on silky smooth, blurs my pores instantly, and gives my skin that soft-focus look before I even put on foundation. It’s lightweight, doesn’t feel greasy, and works beautifully whether I wear it under a full face of makeup or just alone for a fresh, no-makeup-makeup look. Mature, combination skin rejoice. I have tried so many high end primers and this is now my go to. It’s very hydrating and doesn’t make my skin flakey or dry. My makeup is not waterproof, especially with the Texas heat but this primer holds up. I have crows feet and laugh lines along with creases under my eyes and this helps smooth some of the rough areas when I apply my makeup. I’m using Haus Labs foundation with Laura Mercier translucent setting powder. One bottle has lasted me over 6 months but I do work from home so I’m not using it too often. A little goes a long way. I just hope this stays around bc I can’t find it in stores.

I have used Milk Makeup Hydro Grip primer for years - I am 55 and have oily skin so my makeup never stays on. But with the Hydro Grip, my makeup stays on longer and I look rather glowy. It's really spendy though so I went to look for an alternative when I found the Maybelline Grippy Serum Primer. I used it the same way as the Hydro Grip....applied after moisturizing and let it dry. My makeup stays on just as well and I am equally glowy at a fraction of the cost. I'm a believer!

I notice a big difference if I don't use this under my makeup. I would compare this to the milk makeup one and the elf one. They are all meant to do the same thing- provide a "grippy" texture so makeup doesn't budge. You can really feel it working. After the primer is applied, there is kind of a tacky feel if you touch it.

This primer feels very light and absorbs really well into the skin. I've been using it for several days now and I love it. It works really well with makeup and contains niacinamide, which has helped me a lot with controlling excess oil on my skin. I highly recommend it.

This product feels very similar to the milk hydro grip primer with its finish but is more hydrating on the skin. My makeup went on flawlessly over the primer and lasted me all day.

Ok let's start off with the fact that I'm almost 40, and have what is considered "mature skin". I've tried countless "high-end" primers, and I like this the best. It doesn't leave my skin feeling oily, like a lot of primers do, and my makeup stays in place from 7am until at least midnight, without moving at all. I'm almost convinced that I could sleep in this and wake up looking exactly the same. The makeup I use on top of it doesn't cake or crease, and my skin looks beautiful. I'm pretty pale (almost Casper-like), so any texture on my skin shows up like crazy, and now I dont have to worry about that with this primer under my makeup. My teenage daughter keeps trying to steal it from my vanity, so I guess I'd better get her one, too. Anyway, I love this primer and highly recommend it!

my first impression of this primer was that the bottle and serum looked so cute. when i used it, it came out super liquidy and not at all thick so it shocked me when it got sticky like any grippy primer. i wore it with make up. it lasted 4+ hours without retouches, which is super impressive considering i have very oily skin. the dropper bottle is also really useful. my only con that is pretty annoying is that the serum does have shimmer in it. that shimmer isn’t visible alone but it flashes back on cameras. it’s annoying but i’m willing to overlook it because this primer is just so good.
