DDR337 Hearing Protection for Dogs, Black, Medium (Not intended for fireworks or thunderstorms)

We had a last minute small plane trip come up and I was thrilled to find these with fast shipping option. Got here so quick, and we immediately sized them, offering a lot of treats and pets as we introduced our dog to them. The very next day he went in the plane, and maybe it’s because he saw the rest of the pack wearing headphones but he was ok with them. I cannot speak to degree of noise cancellation, def agree with other reviewers that materials are pretty basic and getting something to stay on ears without a choke hazard like this is a challenge. That said, I was thrilled with these. The dog’s ears alone offer some protection if you keep the ears back. These kept them in place. We tried the neck sock version too but our mini husky (yes, he’s an Alaskan Klee Kai) HATES being warm and seemed to be more okay with these. Plus he looks amazing, so bonus.

Desperately wanted these to work for independence month (yes, in my my part of the U.S. it's fireworks from June 10th-July 10th) - but I sent these back before the 4th even hit because they don't actually block noise. I have two small dogs and I tried it with both, and both responded with their usual action of running around aimlessly, panting, and pawing at me every time a firework pop went off. Disheartening because I was really hoping to reduce the stress that these two get around this time of year, and it didn't do anything. The other issue is that they easily fall off with a light head shake, even if you tighten it around the adjustable top and bottom. I wanted to leave it loose enough that it didn't hurt or stifle, but I definitely tightened it as much as possible to fit both of their heads and they could still shake it off. All in all, pretty big disappointment.

did not work well for my Braque Francais "French pointer" he is a bird dog and is highly active. I got these for when im shooting sporting clays with my dog, but even with the minimum movement and light walking from station to station these muffs wont stay put. They worked for a minute but every time I got to the next station to shoot "about a 20 yard walk" the mutt muffs slide down my dogs neck. I tried all types of adjustments he cant shake them off but they just slide down after a bit and they take constant adjusting. They did not work for us:( maybe on an airplane with my dog not moving but in the field its not working and they are very expensive at $75

I purchased the Mutt Muffs so my buddy could hit the range with me. He doesn’t realize it but I need him in peak shape for our adventures, so I want to protect his hearing as much as I can. The muffs won't fit nor stay in place perfectly, but what can you expect when you're working with animals. The trick to getting them to stick is for your pet to get used to wearing them. Think a lot of treats, patience, and taking them on and off. Once they’re familiar with wearing them, finding the right placement and adjustment is easier. My dog can still hear some sounds while wearing the muffs however, I can tell that it does muffle the sounds he hears to a degree. I often need to use visual commands for him to understand when he is wearing the muffs. I like the idea of protecting my dogs hearing from loud sounds. These muffs are well built and easy to adjust once your dog is used to wearing them. Anyone who expects these to work perfectly without training is silly.

I use the word "seems" because how can we know for sure? I base my opinion that I think the Mutt Muffs helps reduce noise to a tolerable level for my dog because of 2 observations: first, he doesn't turn his head away from the noise of the semi trucks when we walk on the street now, and second, he seems less bothered by the noise of the vacuum sweeper indoors (which I used as another test.) That's the basis of my conclusion that the Mutt Muffs may help reduce painful noise levels. But I'm certainly not a researcher nor a vet. Since my adult dog is a terrier and his ears stand up, I do not leave the ear protectors on for more than 20 minutes, to avoid harming the ear cartilage. I notice that other reviewers leave them on longer. I may be too cautious, or maybe their dogs have floppy ears, so it's not an issue. At any rate, the directions say to not use them on puppies and young dogs until the ear cartilage and ear development is finished fully maturing. All that being said, I like the results and am glad I bought the product. The sizing chart seems correct - my dog is 35 pounds and the medium was the correct size, just as the chart indicated.

I took a risk and bought these for my dog, Beans. He is absolutely terrified of fireworks. When he hears them, even faintly, he runs and tries to hide, and he starts shaking and panting like crazy. I was able to get these in before July 4th, and I put them on him at around 7pm. He kept them on until about 10pm, and he slept through most of the fireworks. Our neighbor set off one with multiple really loud pops, and I yelled really loud at my Super Nintendo... He woke up and heard a little something and started shaking, but he calmed down within a minute or so. These have been wonderful for my little man. So, so, so, so happy he didn't have a terrible experience this holiday. It took a bit for me to get it fit to his head, but you just gotta work with it.

Pretty cheaply made and definitely not worth the $. The velcro comes off easily and they don't stay in place. My dog just simply shakes (as dogs do) and they slip easily down to his neck. They are impossible to keep on him. 2 stars because it's a cool product idea if you like to take your doggy along where there are loud sounds but unfortunately this product did not work for me. Sent back for a refund.

Loud noise causes a lot of discomfort for my dog Max. He seems to be very comfortable flying now with his Mutt Muffs on. We took a flight in our Bellanca Turbo Viking and he didn't seem to mind the noise at all. It took a few times to adjust the muffs to fit right. He will now be a regular flyer. Nice solution. Thanks.

My service dog and I went to see Halsey a while ago and he wore his mutt muffs to protect his hearing. Get the right size and they work great! He couldn’t hear a thing - I had to use all hand signals as he couldn’t hear my voice commands - make sure your dog is trained with these so you can still communicate! He slept through the concert aside from alerting me a couple times, he was fully comfortable and relaxed despite how loud it was for us. 100% recommend this product to other service dog handlers and anyone who has their dog around loud noises!
