These are excellent...for the money
The media could not be loaded. There are a lot of reviews poo-pooing the bass response. If the bass was your concern, why would you look at a speaker with a 4" driver? One reviewer compared them to a speaker at 2x the price! How does that make sense? That's like buying a Toyota C-HR and then complaining about acceleration. These are not for critical listening or dance parties. These are for outdoor music at reasonable levels. And at that, they do a very good job. They look nice. They are smaller and blend in well.I'm driving mine with a $20 (Parts Express, $30 on Amazon) Lepai amp and older dot w/audio out. It's a great setup that is part of a whole house system. With Alexa and Spotify, I can play music inside and out.

Very immersive sound and quality
I have these speakers 30 feet apart on my very wide back deck. One tucked and pointed at my pool and left side of my back yard, the other on my covered deck facing the other side of my back yard. I am on two acres and my neighbors can very clearly high hear them through their dense trees. Incredible sound for the price. Not very bass-y, expected when outdoors, but great sound quality overall; very happy. Great build quality as well and attactive. I am running them through a Fosi bluetooth amplifier that I highly recommended as well.

Pleased overall
For $100 these are some pretty good overall outdoor speakers. I had a pair of JBL outdoors that developed some buzzing and pops so I needed a replacement and I went with these. For reference, every other speaker I own (except for a pair in the garage) is JBL, this was my first Polk experience.Generally speaking they are a solid set of speakers. They give a pretty balanced sound all around but lack a little fullness in the lower mid-range. This is particularly noticeable when playing orchestral type music like film scores or piano heavy music. Going from the lower mids to bass is where they really start to have trouble. For the size of the speaker I certainly wasn't expecting to really "feel" bass but these do drop off noticeably in the lower frequency ranges. If there's something to knock with the Atrium 4's, that's it. With other types of music (country, rock, etc...) those issues aren't as noticeable. With that said they offer a nice high end treble sound that is pleasing to the ear. Overall the tone is brighter than I generally prefer (all of my JBL's have a warmer tone) but it certainly isn't a deal breaker for me. They don't by any stretch of the imagination sound unpleasant. For our purposes, general entertaining...using them for music outside while we do yard work..., they fit the bill very nicely. For $100 I am overall satisfied with this purchase. If you can afford to, or if a flatter overall response is important, then I'd probably look at something a little more expensive. If you are comfortable giving up some sound quality or if budget is an issue then certainly gives these a serious look.Installing these babies was an absolute breeze. The mounting hardware supplied by Polk is virtually idiot proof. It simply could not be any easier to mount these speakers. The installation deserves 5 stars. The fact that they are virtually weatherproof is also a plus, you can mount them just about anywhere without fear of damage from the elements. One other thing I really liked was the ability to swivel and aim the speakers to exactly where I wanted them (this could not be done with our JBL's these replaced).Power handling has not been an issue for me. I've got them hooked up to a 120 watt receiver and they been flawless to this point even at high volumes. We have a relatively large back yard so it takes some juice to disperse the sound and the Atriums are more than capable of taking it.I'll summarize this way; if you're looking for an inexpensive way to get good quality sound outdoors with something that is ridiculously easy to install then the Atrium 4 deserves strong consideration. If you can afford to get in to an upgraded version then I would probably look in that direction solely for a better bass-lower midrange performance.

Excellent outdoor speakers
I purchased these outdoor speakers to replace an older set (connected to an indoor system) on my patio. They are mounted under 3 foot eaves that can cause muffled and overly-bass sound. These speakers are easy to install and can be positioned vertically or horizontally. I lowered the height equal to the bottom of my eaves and mounted them vertically, spaced at approx. 30 ft. The sound quality is impressive with clearer sound than my old ones. I don't notice distortion at higher volumes, but then I use these mostly for background music anyway.

They kick bass!
I am a Polk fan having had those as my primary home theater speakers, but in my theater I have a large subwoofer and don't use the Polk speakers for bass. These outside speakers are about the same size and so I was doubtful of good low frequency (bass), but I was wrong, they have strong bass for such a small package. And also impressive they do that outside on my deck with no walls, which makes it easier for sound in general to get lost. If I crank it up I can hear music pretty well 100's of feet away. You may want to avoid that if you have close neighbors! As far as outdoor durability, seems good so far, I've had mine up for about 3 months and they look about the same other than a little dirty.Spend a little extra over the cheaper outdoor models and get these!

Bought in June of 2012 - These still sound like new in 2023!
Moved in new house and needed speakers for back porch and pool area so purchased and installed these under the eaves. They work great when cooking out, pool parties, and laid back evenings. They have been used about 600 hours per year, hours at a time in weather ranging from 55 degrees to over 100 degrees, and been through category 2 Hurricane Michael. My Harmon Kardon receiver laid down on me the other day so I had to order a new garage receiver and was looking at the speakers. I ended up on the Polk 4 and Amazon flashed a message that I purchased these in 2012. I probably never wrote a review but doing so now because it's a good thing to know how long stuff lasts. Who knows they might outlast the new receiver.

A must outside at low volume!
It improves your sound 10 fold, using low levels of sound that sounds so good, and still easily having conversations with others. With out the bass, your music is louder and impedes your conversation.I find that much of a difference!

Great speakers at the right price!
This is my second set of Polk Audio outdoors speakers. My first pair are the Atrium 6s, which are amazing and produce very clear and accurate sound (in my humble opinion). Recognizing that the Atrium 4s are smaller, they still produce very good sound. The mounting system that both speakers use make them very easy to install and wire, and the Atrium 4s worked right out of the box with no fuss. The bass reproduction is good, but not at the same level as the Atrium 6s. Nevertheless, they are quite good at filling small to medium spaces, and they very effectively filled my lower patio area with quality sound. As an aside, these are standard speakers and are not powered so you will need an amplifier or receiver to power them. Both my Atrium 4s and 6s seem very well sealed against the weather elements and they are both holding up very well. I can definitely recommend the Atrium 4s for outdoor installations.

Works well with Sonos ZP100 and Atrium 4s
Wired in parallel with Polk Atrium 4s to an old Sonos ZP100 which will drive 4Ω at 150W per channel. Fills out the low frequencies I was missing with the Atriums on their own. Seems like a well made piece of kit- it has some heft to it. As others have mentioned, ensuring you have the right amplifier to drive this sub is key to getting the sound you’re looking for.
