I’ve never been real serious about painting on canvas, done it on and off, never bought brushes before, my sister gave me a bunch that she used on painting statuary, but now I’m serious about painting and realized that the brushes I have had for over ten years and they were older than that, I was finding it hard to get the type of detailing I required, so after painting 8 canvass I caved in ( because I’m cheap and not trained ) and bought this set weeks ago, I just used them for the first time, I thought they would be too soft, none of my brushes have been like these, but I’m telling you they are amazing, it’s like the difference in driving a golf cart or a car. I love them think I keep these for a least ten years. Very very happy.

After doing digital art as a hobby for nearly 10 years, I'm putting the stylus down for a while to try art with physical mediums. Among the list of mediums I'm starting to use are watercolor, acrylic, and oil paint. I don't use these with watercolor paint; They aren't intended for that though I suspect they'd work at least passably with watercolor. I use these with acrylic and oil paints. Overall, I'm pretty happy with the brushes in this set, but as I said in the review title, one brush, the largest round brush in the set, has a loose ferrule. I discovered that last week when I was cleaning it, having completed an oil painting. As I scrubbed the bristles with soapy water and my fingers, the bristles and ferrule came off the brush handle (I'm just glad it didn't happen while I was painting!). After the brush dried, I set the brush in a vise gripping the ferrule lightly but firmly with the vise jaws, and gave the tip of the handle a few firm taps with a mallet. The handle wouldn't come out of the ferrule after I did this, but I'm still wary of it. I'm just starting a new acrylic painting and will likely use this particular brush soon. I'm hoping it doesn't come apart again. That aside, I've used most of the brushes in this set, and I haven't had any issues with the other brushes. I'll likely try a different brand of brushes when I get more, but I intend to use these until they either wear out or fail.

I was surprised by the quality of these brushes. I wasn't expecting this for the cost. The variety of brush sizes is great for any beginning painter. The bristles are soft and do not shed.

These are very nice, a good case too

I'd purchased these as just a basic little set to help me learn oil painting. It said they were good for all mediums, but, as I've learned, they're actually a bit soft for oils. That being said, they do get the job done. I loved all the brush sizes that are included. They look very nice aesthetically and feel good in the hands. My only real gripes are that they're better suited for softer paints than oils, and that two of the brushes arrived with very loose heads that wobble when I try to use them. So those two brushes are basically entirely useless. The rest were properly connected and made though. Overall, for the price, it has a nice array of brushes for whatever you may be working on, but there are certainly better-built options.
