The tried and true Zebco 33 has landed more fish than one can count. This version was an excellent choice for my wife. It’s simple to use and the drag adjustment has a short learning curve. This was an excellent choice as my wife is not concerned with becoming a master angler; she just wants to go to our farm pond and catch fish. Hook, reel, and land. She has landed small panfish to some large hard fighting catfish. The downside is with her landing more fish I have more to clean and I have to gleefully endure the ribbing I get when she catches the most fish and biggest fish. Upside is my gear is safe from birdnests and broken tips. This allows us to have some enjoyable time together and I don’t care if I ever catch a fish because it provides her joy and happiness. Additionally, it’s her pole. After raising 5 children it’s important for her to have things like this that the boys don’t want to borrow and as the grandkids grow she can regale them with her stories of the “big fish” and not the despair of how many broke her line.

This is a great rod for a child or other beginner. Unlike the last two rods I bought, this one does not get tangled all tangled up. It is so easy to use that my four year old was able to catch three fish with it. The six foot length is noticeably longer than other rods but actually makes it easier to cast farther. And it breaks down into two pieces for easy stowage and transportation. As a man, I had no qualms about using a “ladies” rod which is exactly the same as any other rod except for the purple tint.

Purchased this for a gift for our new daughter in law. We are a big fishing family and wanted her to have her own equipment. The pole and reel are good quality and construction. works great she has caught several fish on it already and is happy with the colorful rod and reel combo. BTW replace the line on a reel you buy that come with line. You never know how old it is or what kind it is.

To be honest, one reason I bought this "lady" pole was because it was purple. I also like the easy push-button casting reel. With that said, it functions like an under-$30 pole/reel combo should. Pole is stiffer than a good pole, line is eh, reel sometimes sticks, but I also caught lots of fish, and even "the big ones." Still, this is my third Zebco in about 4-5 years. If you know what to expect and don't want to worry about breaking something more expensive, this product is for you!

It is not good, took my wife fishing, it cast great , reels in real smooth, She loves it , But it did not catch a fish No matter how great it works we still had no fish at the end of the day. Am still looking for that rod and reel that will catch a fish with every cast.

Love the color and its not heavy. Only problem I have was after 5 throws the string had to be replaced

I bought this product to start fishing when i am at the lake. The handle is a perfect size and it’s easy to set up. It’s lightweight and has such fun colors. The casting with this product is so simple and makes it so much fun. The value was amazing for what i spent. I would say this could make a great gift for anyone who just likes to spend time out by a Lake or River!

Item is good for beginners. The cast line is basic. Good for kids and catching small fish.
