first readings where not totally consistent, after some practice i have come to the best technique, -wash hands with water not alcohol - let dry for at least 5 minutes. - get the blood sample not in the center of the fingertip but a little to the sides (where skin is thinner) - if possible discard the first drop - manual also recommends to massage the fingertip and avoid expressing too much so the interstitial liquid doesn't interfere with the lecture. if not happy wit result try the other hand. with this i have had readings with ~3 mg/dl of difference

Works great easy to use. Great value for my money. I like how it has the automatic pen so I don't have to poke myself manually with the lancet. Having the land set pen eases some of my anxiety of poking my fingers. I like how the lancet pin is adjustable to how deep the pin goes into your fingers.

I got this to keep an eye on my blood sugar after being unable to pinpoint why I was feeling awful, exhausted and faint at times. This reader was giving me values from 47 to 180 up and down within minutes and terrified me. My doctor gave me a Rx for a freestyle blood glucose reader (tested at 98.8% accuracy). So I tested 3 times on ONE stick with both readers to test them. This one have a 49 first then 81 and then 127. The Freestyle gave 97, 97, 98. Please do not trust this device's readings as medically accurate values, more than half have proven defective according to Google. It was giving me panic attacks over why I couldn't get my sugar stable when the whole time it already was, no one needs that extra worry. So you can roll the dice here or go with one that has 3rd party testing for accuracy.

This is the 2nd one I've bought but only because I needed more lancets and test strips & didn't see them offered separately. It wasn't that much to just buy a whole new kit & since it's fairly delicate I thought it might be a good idea to have a spare or new one. Works as advertised. Easy to use.
