Bought some of this horseradish about six months ago. Trimmed the ends ever so slightly, and planted them(mid March) about four inches in the soil. All pieces did very well and I plan on digging one up in January to satisfy my curiosity. I will buy more if needed, and I recommend. Will update with the taste when possible.

Hit Or Miss Root Was A Hit For Me.
I purchased this as an homage to my father, who grew horseradish. When he did. it grew all over the yard because it wasn't contained in any way. He passed away and for the next couple decades, my mother pulled it up whenever and wherever it came up.Many people have complained about this product not growing or whatever.My root came wrapped nicely. I took it out of the supplied wrapping, cleaned it and wrapped it in a damp paper towel in a plastic bag and set it in a cool area. A few days later, I put the root in a flower pot. The pot was set on some seed heating mats along with the other seeds I am growing.Three days later there was a little spike of green leaf. More have followed and now there are lots of leaves which would seem to indicate healthy growth. Right now there are leaves that are over 6 inches tall and "baby" leaves continue to pop up.In the midst of the "snowmagedden" that struck the east coast, this horseradish plant has been a welcome sign of life and the spring to come.I am more than satisfied and can't wait to see the whole thing grow bigger, eventual harvest and use.Dad would be happy.

I am a fairly experienced gardener and I was very disappointed that the piece sent to me was large old and woody and simply rotted in the ground. It is a pity as I wanted a horseradish plant.
