This set offers the most vital tools for mixing drinks: a shaker, strainer, and muddler. It also includes a spoon, a jigger, and two straws. However, as other reviewers have pointed out, most of these items have some drawbacks. SHAKER—It holds 20 ounces, and it works when used properly. It is made from very thin metal, so fill it with ice and shake it for 20 seconds, and it will get so cold that I have to set it down. It also leaks unless I close the lid very carefully. Also, note that this design is different from the so-called Boston shakers. Here, the top separates close to the top, and it contains a built-in strainer with a separate cap. STRAINER and MUDDLER - These are both excellent. The strainer fits perfectly on the shaker. The muddler has a grooved head and, while relatively light, is long enough (8 inches) to reach into a cup. SPOON -- It's very long at 10 inches, but as another reviewer pointed out, it's oddly weighted at the end, making it a bit top-heavy. JIGGER—A full jigger on the large end only measures 0.8 ounces, so it's rather awkward to use as a measuring tool. A proper jigger should deliver 1.5 ounces on the large end and 1 ounce on the smaller one. I find it rather useless and still use our small Pyrex for measuring components. STRAWS - I agree with the other reviewer who pointed out that these are too thin to use. If you're sipping anything other than water with these, they will prove hard to clean. Overall, I consider this a reasonable purchase if you're looking for an inexpensive set and you just need the shaker, strainer, and/or muddler. It has elevated our drinking game because I can filter the drink after shaking, which helps achieve the proper balance of water and cooling without diluting the drink. I realize that the flaws described above could easily justify a 4-star or 3-star review, but I don't need the jigger, straws, or spoon. I've offered a 5-star review because it delivers everything I need for mixing for a low price.

This is a super cocktail shaking set. The biggest challenge with some of these kits is the fit between the large metal lid and shaking cup. These two fit together and come apart well even after chilling and that is a good thing. My rating and value system are commensurate with the price of a product and though this kit is made of lightweight metal you get what you pay for. I’m happy with it!

This Mixology Bartender Kit is made fine, but the materials used aren't good quality. The metal is light (in a bad way) and extremely thin, so much so that it's easy to bend. I'm not particularly strong, but I didn't need much effort to turn the bottom part of the shaker into an oval (see photo). Frankly, if this is genuinely stainless steel, I'm shocked, since it's the worst stainless I've ever owned. The muddler uses hard, cheap plastic on the muddling part and the handle isn't comfortable to hold. The jigger is difficult to hold properly and pour, and it's not well made. The spoon is awkwardly weighted with a smaller bowl than standard for cocktail spoons (which will mess up any recipes that call for a "bar spoon" measurement, and the straws aren't particularly good quality and too narrow to work effectively for most cocktails or for cleaning. The strainer also uses lower quality metals but works okay. The spring doesn’t feel like it will last long before it bends out of shape though. The only positive I could find is that the booklet has some decent recipes, including some non-alcoholic options I haven't seen before. A booklet isn't enough to recommend this set though, and I don't. It's a waste of money.

This set of bartending gear is made from stainless steel and has classic style with the shaker and spoon. The muddler looks a bit like an adult toy, but it fits well in the hand and the end has a classic spikey pattern in plastic (which is honestly better since you risk breaking a glass if it were 100% steel). It also has a 0.5/1 oz jigger (no handle), a strainer, and 2 thin fully-steel straws (one angled at the tip). I put all of it through my dishwasher - no spots/corrosion. The shaker top fit over the body, which is unusual for my experience, but it worked great... Tested it thoroughly. The strainer holes are small enough to allow water surface tension to keep it from draining... But that will only happen if you're not actually pouring, but rather trying to dump the drink into a glass. Everything fits together well and it easily separates when you need to. There was a small surprise in the included recipes... They were for mocktails, non-alcoholic versions of cocktails. Generally if you're getting this, you already have a nice long list of alcoholic beverages, but not so much for the other side. I feel this shows the creators of this were thoughtful and deliberate. Bottoms up!
