Panasonic FlashXpress Family Size Air Fryer Toaster Oven Combo, 11 Cooking Functions, 1800W PFAS-Free Interior, Double Infrared Heating, Temperature Control Dial, Stainless Steel - NB-G211P

This is a review of the Panasonic NB-211. It’s replacing a 10 year old Hamilton Beach convection toaster oven. It came packed with paper pulp type packing and enclosed in a sort of polyester bag. The accessories were in separate bags. The build quality is excellent, heavier and more stout than cheaper toaster oven/air fryer combo units. The controls are pretty easy to use, I haven’t come across anything illogical so far. There are 3 side slots for basket or pan(s). The interior light stays on when running at least some of the time so I can monitor cooking progress. I doubt the light would stay on for long term procedures like dehydrating but I don’t know. I haven’t had it long, a couple days but I’d like to dispel at least one myth. It will indeed bake. If some of the reviews were accurate and I couldn’t bake with it, I probably would not keep it. We used the Hamilton Beach for all our oven cooking/baking and want the Panasonic to do the same. I baked a loaf of Pilsbury pumpkin quick bread as an early test. The package called for 375* for 40-50 minutes. Based on prior experience with the Hamilton Beach, I baked it at 360* for 30 minutes, stuck a tooth pick in it and it was done. Perfect except the top split so not perfect. Did a Hot Pocket for lunch, used the manual mode which includes convection. Baked per instruction and it was fine, I liked it better than a microwave. It does have an internal cooling fan which runs during use and will continue to run after the cycle is done until I guess the internal temperature of the oven drops to a certain temp. I think the clearances called out in the manual – 4 inches horizontally and 12 inches vertical are pretty conservative, especially the vertical clearance. I imagine the exterior will get warmer than the typical toaster oven while in air fryer mode – up to 440* - but it didn’t seem all that hot a couple inches away. Would I buy it again? At the price I paid - $199 - I’d buy it again no question. For the most recent price on Amazon - $299 likely not. There are a couple other ovens for $199 that look interesting. I'll update this if my impressions change. Edit: There is one point that people may want to know about. It seems the minimum temperature in any mode I tried including manual is 160* F. I'm quite happy with it.

I am a happy user of a Panasonic FlashXpress for years and very excited to see a new larger model with more features to I ordered the FlashXpress Air Fryer Toaster Oven NB-G211P. First a bad omen, the package was damaged (see photo) but the unit seemed OK. The instructions say to run it in Air Fryer mode first to get of an "odd" odor. The odor is a burnt plastic stink that even after running it over 6 times persists. The inside smells OK-ish but the fan blows out a stink that lingers. Over time it might get better but I had anther appliance where even after a year still had the same issue... not going through that again. Additionally, Panasonic lost the plot on the functionality. The "Fryer" fan runs for every function, even toast. It's loud and it can't really toast or broil properly in constant convection mode. Plus instead of an easy button push like the old smaller FlashXpress fiddle with the dials for every function and then press start. Preheat also does not automatically finish and then start the cook timer. You have to press the start button a second time to start the actual cooking once the preheat is complete... and almost all the functions require preheat. Unhappily due to the stinky odor I am returning the product. Panasonic needs to up the quality control of the plastic used in this product and also improve the functionality of the user interface and get of the fan running for every function.

Excellent oven that happens to get hot enough to air fry. That was my confusion, treat this thing as a big convection oven that is very fast. Only takes a few minutes to preheat and then starts to cook. Pillsbury biscuits from the can cook far better than my oven. Tater tots and chicken nuggets, excellent. The big thing is the preheat time compared to a traditional oven. Note: this is an OVEN not an air fryer. It needs space, 12” above the top clear. Not for under the counter, I got a thin table for it up against a clear wall. It’s also 1800 watts, which means it can’t share a circuit with a microwave at the same time. I wish the beeper was louder and the instructions were better, but you can figure it out.

This is a frustrating oven. It airfry's well, it's big, cooks evenly and is reasonably fast and quiet. Based on the hardware alone, it would have been a keeper. However, the interface is atrocious. First, the dials only register if you spin them slowly - spin too fast and that input is ignored. The time and temp settings are gate-kept. You want to air fry at 325 degrees for 40 minutes? Too bad! Air fry is only 410-445, and maximum for 36 minutes. Air roast also lets you use the fan at top speed, and you can drop the temp to the 300's, but only for a maximum 24 minutes. None of the other settings turn on the fan at air-fry speed. You want to bake? I hope you're in the kitchen every 30 minutes to restart each time, because you're not allowed to specify more than 30 minutes with bake. Oh, there's a manual mode, but each time you choose it, the default temp starts at 195, and you have to slowly turn the dial numerous clicks if you want to reach 325 degrees. It's a shame the controls are so bad because the oven itself is pretty good.

This is a review of the Air Fryer Toaster oven not the toaster. FYI I have the actual toaster and that is 5 stars. It toasts bread beautifully. The Air Fryer is larger much larger like an actual oven. Someone made a comment that the oven gets super hot. FYI it does get very hot when cooking. Not like the sun but you wanna let it cool down a bit if you want to pick it up and move it. I don't move it so much so not a big deal for me. So the Air Fryer is like a convention oven so the fans have to go when on. They are fairly loud and will run even after you are done cooking. A bit annoying but ok. Now when using the toaster oven the fans blow too!!! Seems kinda odd? The toast will take 5-6 minutes while the toaster will take 3-4. Not so much of a deal breaker but you need to alot the extra time. What I don't like is that the oven actually air frys the toast so you cook the toast but not actually toast the toast. Very odd. I am going to live with that. The air frying part is the star here. Its a huge basket much larger than anything on the market, cooks fairly quickly and my frozen Whole Foods Root Veg fries were really crispy. I think its 5 stars as an airfryer and 3 stars as a toaster hence the 4 stars. Thats it for now

I had the smaller unit for 10 years and really liked it, it’s only downfall for me is it was small. Now I have the new model that is larger and we really like this model. We don’t cook whole meals in it, but we use to air fry bake and make toast or bagels, etc.

I was looking for a replacement for my air fryer that had a wonky rotating function selector. It was not easy to make a temp or time selection because it would scatter the selection and finally come to the setting I wanted. It was supposed to be the most popular air fryer. This one is stable and easy to use. My only problem ( not a big one) is the presets on most selections is very high temperatures on toast and air fry and a couple others. I was used to selecting the temp on my old one from 200 to 400 deg. F. Also, the bake pan has to set directly over the lower heating element and drippings solidify while cooking making it harder to clean the pan. It s a defenite keeper.

This product is a real disappointment for owners of the smaller Panasonic toaster oven. It takes 10 minutes to toast a single piece of bread, it does not broil at all, and when it is on, the fan sounds like a jet engine. We had to buy a $10 toaster just to get a slice of toast in the morning. We are so sorry we went for the sale price on this thing instead of just buying another smaller unit without the "air fryer" bells and whistles. It is difficult to figure out how to turn it on, takes forever to preheat, and once it's off it takes another 20 minutes for the jet engine fan noise to stop. Finally, the outside of it gets extremely hot when used to bake or broil. Finally, it is huge and takes up a ton of counter space. Please do not buy! You will be disappointed.

It’s my first air fryer! I’ve used it everyday and it looks really well. I like the design and it looks nice in my kitchen! Go get yourself one! See what you think!
