This is a beautiful bust sculpture of Socrates (470-399 BC), the famous Athenian philosopher and one of the founders of Western philosophy. Socrates is very well-known for his saying, among others, that "I know one thing: that I know nothing". The production of this statue, made by top quality alabaster, is inspired by a Roman portrait of the great Philosopher, called "Herm of Socrates", that was found in Villa Albani (Italy) in 1735. This is a great item for home, office or library decoration; ideal gift for lovers of classical antiquity, and particularly for teachers and professors of history or philosophy.

Love it! I always wanted a bust after watching ...
Was gifted this by a friend. Love it!I always wanted a bust after watching many Columbo episodes on TV. Those wealthy 70's Americans always had a bust or two in their house in the background! I would dream of owning one one day and now I have my very own.Good quality and very well detailed. Would look great on a desk.
