Buy Flip 7 if you need a game that hits the table with people who do not own games. It is a push-your-luck race to 200, teachable in about two minutes, and a full game is usually done in 15 to 20 minutes. That combination is rarer than the box makes it sound. The core decision is hit or stay. Number cards run 0 through 12, and each value appears as many times as its number, so a 12 is common and a 1 is almost a unicorn. Match a number you already have and you bust, scoring nothing for the round. Bank early and you keep a small total while everyone else is still flipping. Seven different numbers ends the round on the spot and adds 15. That is the whole game, and it is enough, because the bust is immediate and public. People groan, recount the row, and argue about whether the next card was worth it. What keeps it from being solo blackjack-with-cards is the small action deck. Freeze locks someone out of the round. Flip Three forces three cards in a row, which is funny when you are the last player still in and it walks you into a duplicate. Second Chance lets you survive one match and then makes everyone else want you out. Modifier cards (+2 up through +10, and a x2) turn a safe stay into a round you should have pushed. None of this is deep strategy. It is enough interaction that the leader cannot just sit on a lead, and enough probability that counting what has already appeared is a real, optional edge if someone at the table wants it. Everyone else can ignore the odds and still have a fair shot. It lists 3 or more players, ages 8+. It is at its best from about 5 to 8, where the Freeze and Flip Three cards have someone worth aiming at and the round still moves. Three works, it is just quieter. You need a score sheet or the free tracker. The cards themselves are the whole box, so it travels and it does not overstay a weeknight. Skip it if you want a game where the best player should win, or where luck is a seasoning instead of the meal. A cold deck can wipe a careful round, and there is no engine to build. For a family table, a holiday gift, or the slot after dinner before people leave, that is the point. It was nominated for the Spiel des Jahres and won BoardGameGeek’s party-game award for a reason: it is the rare filler people ask to play again before the score sheet is put away.

The product itself is great and offers very good value for money. However, the box arrived damaged, which was a bit disappointing. Thankfully, the item inside was still in good condition.

I originally thought the game might be too simple to enjoy. However, I was wrong. It's simplicity is what makes this push your luck game so effective. It is quick to learn and can be replayed multiple times. I think the ideal number of players would be 4-6, but can work as a 2 player game, and up to 10. There is no equipment/scorecard provided with the game, so you'll just need to keep track of scores your own way (pad and pen, notes app on your phone, etc).
