Blue Buffalo Basics Fish Grain-Free Skin & Stomach Care Dry Cat Food, 11 lb

I got two kittens from the humane society in July 2021. I know you are not supposed to just suddenly switch foods, so I took it extra slow as I changed them from the Purina Kitten Chow they had been on, to Blue Buffalo Kitten. They did well for awhile, but then I noticed one kitten suddenly started blowing coat around November. I know cats shed and especially long-haired cats, but this was HORRIBLE. When she would just walk by you she had a cloud of hair blowing in the wind reminiscent of the cloud that followed Pigpen on the old Charlie Brown cartoons. I was having to vacuum the curtains, the carpets and the furniture at least twice a day, on top of which I was going through at least one and sometimes two lint rollers EVERY DAY. I have a large air purifier that normally takes a new filter every 6 months or so, but now I was having to change filters every 1-2 weeks! It was unbearable. The next thing I noticed was that at times a few minutes after eating, she would throw up. She was scratching constantly and would have sneezing fits that would go on for a full minute or more. She was grumpy and preferred not to be handled. She stopped wanting to play with her sister as well, preferring instead to hide away and sleep. Multiple vet checks revealed nothing obviously wrong. They both had the softest, shiniest coat the vet had ever seen. I got a lot of compliments on them. But as I searched for an answer, I kept running across food allergies as a possible cause for her symptoms. So I found this limited ingredient diet and decided to try it. Over the course of a month I slowly switched them over to this food. The sneezing stopped, the scratching stopped, and wonder of wonders--her shedding dropped to a normal level at last! I will probably never know for sure exactly what was in the regular food that she was allergic to, but am I ever glad to have found this! Now Honey is back to running around the house like her tail is on fire, playing with her sister and being the comic she was as a kitten. Her coat is full again and still just as shiny and soft as before. And the best part is that it comes in different flavors, so I can switch them up every week or so to prevent them from getting bored. Very good food that I highly recommend. A bit pricey, but I look at it as an investment. Pay a little more over time with the food and keep them healthy; or feed cheap food and get hit later on with a sudden emergency health issue that you aren't prepared for. I will buy the better food.

I feel inclined to write my first Amazon review, ever, for this product! My cat was vomiting frequently and losing weight. After vet visits, blood work, multiple prescription vet foods that my cat wouldn't touch, I stumbled across this product. My cat has now gained her weight back, her pica has gotten so much better, and she is no longer vomiting. I do have to sprinkle some magical dust (another product) on top to keep her interested but after a few months I can't say enough good things about this food!

This is the best cat food for a cat who is finicky picky and won't eat any other food because most of the cat food out there has chicken flavor to it and I found out most cats do not like the chicken flavor in cat food the ingredient and my cat threw up on that so my cat is stuck on this he won't go to anything else and it's also very healthy for your cat too it's got a lot of omega-3 it's got zinc in it it's got lots of good ingredients in it for your cat and very healthy and my cat has beautiful fur with the fish in it and stuff and cats love fish and his hair is so silky and smooth and shiny it's unbelievable how long I've had my cat on this The price is decent I have to say but I wish it was a little cheaper on Amazon but I guess that's the way Amazon prices go and it's too bad PetSmart doesn't carry this anymore because they felt like no one was buying it off the PetSmart shelves but that's not true a lot of people wanted to buy it but PetSmart didn't feel like having it on their shelves because it was too expensive to be kept on their shelves all the time so it's too bad it's not in PetSmart anymore but I've been ordering off Amazon.com for a while now and it's been fine it has but the price is a little more expensive than what PetSmart had it at but oh well I can't get it anywhere else because no other PetSmart carries it anymore and they don't so I guess Amazon is the best place to buy the thing so I've been doing it for a while so I have to stick with them

My cats do like this. However, I can't give it five stars because it is a little difficult for them to eat. The food kernels are very small and it is difficult for older cats to chase them around their food dish.

When you have a cat with allergies and then top that off with him being picky, you feel like you win the lottery when you find a winner! Buddy came to our family in late February this year. He was covered in dried scabs when we met him, but we couldn't let him go when we saw him. We felt we could help him, so we adopted him. It took dozens and dozens of kinds of food from dry to canned, to find one he would/could eat. We did have him allergy tested, but the foods that he wasn't allergic to didn't mean instant success. He is so picky and simply will not eat canned or many dry for that matter. Please don't send me tips of transitioning him, they don't work for Buddy. He will starve himself and I won't have that. Again, please no tips. Every other food we gave him from canned to dry, caused some type of reaction. Either he scratched, got yeast in his ears, got hot spots or threw up OR wouldn't eat it. This one, he will eat and it agrees with him in every way. No litter issues, he stopped shedding as much and did I mention...he loves it!? I never thought we would have a cat on dry food, but here we are. We have been rescuing animals for about 4 decades, but Buddy was a different kind of case. At any rate, he loves this food and it loves him back and that means we love it too! And yes, we have tried foods on every level from expensive to the cheaper ones and we simply aren't going to argue with success!

This is the only kibble that agrees with my senior cat with allergy issues. She enjoys the taste and the kibble is very small and easy for her to chew. She has firm, less stinky stools with this food as well.

The package of cat food inside the box was open and spilled contents. Made a mess, but food was ok.

My cats love this food. One of them, I'm pretty sure, is allergic to poultry, and this is one of the only foods that doesn't have chicken. She's happy and healthy, and we love Blue Buffalo <3 (this is not sponsored btw)

My cat has already vomited three times since being on this diet for a little more than a month now.
