It is expensive toy, nothing more.
Wow, I didn’t know what to expect, but this grip is terrible.Pros:It is large enough to make it easier to hold. There is a way to attach it to a tripodThere is a way to attach a lamp. Not a hotshoe but just a slot.It is well made.Cons:It is not as responsive as the maker advertised. The app?!? Why can’t it use iPhone camera app?!? The app locked up several times. It is not as user friendly. The setup process is even more terrible. It requires you to scan barcode of the box. So, my box had a sticker over the barcode. Imagine me, having to carefully removing a sticker just to use the app.The grip came with half dead battery. This is not a cheap battery.Oh best part, you can’t turn this grip off. So, it will keep draining the battery. It is expensive. For the price, you should be getting more than 3 wheels and a shutter button, that are not very responsive.Overall, this is a toy. That requires so much to use, that it is not worth buying.

Great grip for the serious mobile photographer!
I really like this gadget! I am a retired professional photographer and I bought an iPhone 7 Plus to have a decent camera with me at all times. However, I've been frustrated with how clunky it is to use two hands to grip this slippery phone while also trying to find the tiny side buttons or to press the screen trigger in the right spot. The Pictar grip solves my handling problems. I can maneuver it with just one hand, and the shutter release button is an easy reach and feels like I'm actually handling a "real" camera.Another great feature is it's size. It's perfectly proportioned to be easy to grip while still being quite small. I was delighted to find that it slipped easily into my shorts or khaki's pocket. I wondered about carrying with jeans. I live in Florida, so only occasionally is it cool enough to wear jeans, but when I did, I was amazed that it also fit in the front pocket. Maybe very tight jeans would be an issue, but my 501 Levi's weren't a problem! What's not to like? Well, the software needed to operate the Pictar. If you are only familiar with the phone app that comes with the iPhone, you'll think this software is just terrific. It lets you save your images as uncompressed TIFF files which is a huge quality plus over jpeg's. But it lacks several features that are already available in other apps, especially the ability to save images in Raw format for even more control over quality than TIF. I contacted the company (Miggo, based in Israel) their rep told me that Raw and other features will be in future updates, but for now the company is just trying to keep up with the demand for the hardware. I'm used to using an app called ProShot which offers lots more features, and I sometimes use that instead of the current Pictar app, but even then being able to hold the thing in one hand with the grip is a huge improvement, and it's actually quite easy to hit the screen shutter release with my thumb while holding it in one hand. I am concerned about battery life (it has a small, not cheap, little battery, that by the end of minimal use in the first day showed only 65% remaining life. These are minor complaints. I really love the Pictar grip and it's a long overdue addition to the growing mobile photography field.

I absolutely loved the Pictar when I first received it
I absolutely loved the Pictar when I first received it, but after about a week of use a lot of the features stopped working properly. The zoom and brightness adjuster are just 2 things that stopped being responsive. I’m not sure if anyone has experienced this or not.

Works well
Works well out of the box although a little slow in low light. It's pushing pocketability on my 7 plus and I have to say it's even uglier in real life than on the advertising. A sleeker design like a Leica T would be more in keeping with an iPhone, instead of the pseudo retro look. BUT, I knew that when I purchased and the most important thing is that it does make the iPhone operate much better as a camera. Feels plasticky but well built too.

You or your recipient WILL BE RETURNING THIS
And, just so you are aware in advance (we should have checked) the returns gets charged a 15% "restocking fee" which is unheard of. The requirements of the return are that the product is basically sealed in original packaging - which, unless you open and go to use the product how would you know whether you want to return it or not?! So I mean, the entire thing is a scam for your money. The product is described as a special effects type camera, when in reality it is just a bulky awkward Case for half your phone. If you are getting this for yourself or someone you know - it cannot go onto a phone with a case so each time you want to use it, you have to take your case off and put this on, then repeat the process to get it off. In reality, it does NOTHING special and does NOT improve or change the quality of the photos your smart phone is already capable of taking. It is also awkward to hold in general. We ended up returning this (without seeing a refund as of yet and its been weeks) and buying a Fujifilm Instax Mini polaroid camera bundle (check it out) and Loved it, came with a whole slew of things to use like filters, an album, case, etc. All for basically the same price. This was a total and complete waste of money and a Terrible experience with seller who refuses to issue refund, so unless you're up for wasting over $100 Do.Not.Buy.This.
