APV-WPL20-WH Liberty L2 Portable Wi-Fi VoIP Phone with 2.4" Display, White

I was looking for a portable Wi-Fi VOIP phone for use with a national VOIP provider. I'm not an expert in SIP phones but am usually able to manage with a decent set of instructions on how to set things up. The Liberty L2 looked like a good fit but after powering on the phone and allowing it to go through the firmware upgrade process (1.00.030.18777) I was surprised to learn that it expects to use something called the "Apivios CLive" service, some sort of cloud based provisioning and management service. You can't configure it through the phone UI for use with a standard SIP provider. The User Guide indicated that there was a Web UI available on port 8000 but I was unable to connect to it and investigate further (no TCP ports on the phone's IP address responded to an NMAP port scan). Needless to say, the phone is useless in my situation and will be going back to the vendor ASAP.

Nightmare to program and get to work in 100,000 Sq. Ft. Hotel. Not for a novice. Had to go online to find administrators manual to set it up.

You don't need to be an IT person, but helpful to have a solid networking background. Best way to access phone for setup is through web interface. I had no problem accessing phone once you follow the directions for remote access. That must be turned on through Access Web UI. Set that up first. I used RingCentral without any issue or support from Ring or Apivio. The administrator manual is very helpful and full of content. Yes, I realize its indoor use only, so I would recommend the case for the phone. Good luck...
