We used it to sift rock of a certain size. Had to use a smaller grid screen with the sifter.

It did a good job screening top soil

I bought a few competing products hoping to land on something useable with the amazon crap-shoot. This thing was the clear victor. Solid pieces of wood. Really nice handle design and really nice screen that is slid into a dado instead of stapled on or sandwiched like I've seen in other designs. My only suggestions for improvement would be maybe to go a little more robust on the wood, and consider offering an option for a little vibrating motor (they run 30-40 bucks) so you can just turn it on and let it do the sifting.

I used this today to sift a wheelbarrow full of dirt and stones. As others stated this is not a good sifter for getting pea gravel out of the dirt, but works well sifting out river rock and gravel. I would recommend this for small jobs only. I got through a wheelbarrow full of dirt and rocks in about a half an hour.The build of the product is very sturdy and the screen is very sturdy. IMHO, it was worth the price and I will be using it when I do new plantings in my flower beds to eliminate some of the rocks in the beds.

First, the service is great. I had an issue with shipping damage, and they were fast and responsive.I've been searching everywhere for this so I didn't have to build myself. It fits snugly on my standard, one-wheel ACE-branded wheel barrel with just enough space to shake it. The wire mesh is very solid and holds a lot of weight, not from a rollable mesh like I would have made myself. Good construction. The only downside is the wood is very light, which makes it prone to cracking or damage over time, but it's the best you'll get shipped and not from your own lumberyard.It was a long search, and I'm very happy with my purchase!

Previous owners put mulch over landscaping fabric and then put rock over that. The mulch turned to dirt and we needed to separate

Doesn't need a handle, unless you have only one hand. We have sifting soil from 50 years of garden debris. It is oddly satisfying. I think small mesh would make the process slower. The mesh is extra strong. I expect this sieve to outlast me.

Excellent product, well made with sturdy materials. I only wish it had come with handles. Not a big deal though. I just added the handles I wanted.
