The first one worked so well that I bought a second one. I have one specific to YSF and the second is DMR. The YSF one will also be the one that travels with me - although I may buy a third just for that. These are awesome and work great!

When I buy an item, I like for it to be ready to work when I open it up. This product does not do that. It has an 8 GB card that you will need to write data on. That requires that you have or buy a TF reader. When I went back to read the description, I still found no mention of that. There is also no discussion or diagram to let you know where on the unit to find the card and you might just damage something while looking for it. So I went ahead and purchased a TF reader. I then followed all of the instructions. The item never worked. The screen never powered up. What a waste of time and money. I don't know if I can get a refund.

This is my second one of these I have bought lately. This one came with a pre-loaded SD card installed! I didn't expect that and bought a bunch of cards. The extra cost of assembly was worth it!

The SD chip that came with the module, has partitioned in an odd way, making it impossible to load the image for the operating system. Took a little effort to get that chip reformatted. I though that the online and in device, setup wizards worked very well. I have been impressed with the performance of this hotspot so far.

The sd card had to be re-flashed with pistar software. Because of a glitch in the pistar flash on the sd card. Only then would the unit setup to a wifi connection. We tried for 2 hours first then gave up and then re flashed the ad card. The unit works now just fine. They need to check each one before shipping that all the functions work on the pistar flash or just include the stuff to do it when you get the unit! Jimmy, wx9dx

Wonderful addition to my ham shack. My local DMR repeater is a bit far away for my handheld to reach, but with this hotspot, I can work everywhere I want through DMR and D-Star! I can even take it with me if I connect to my phone as a wifi hotspot. You can find a cheaper hotspot, but you won't find a ready to go package as good as this for the price.

I just received the pi-star hotspot today. It was surprisingly easy to set up. The instructions were emailed by the seller ahead of shipping and not sent along with the product. However, I did not use the instructions as there are plenty of YouTube videos that explain in detail how to set up a pi-star hotspot. After about 3 hours taking my time to carefully set it up, I was able to use it successfully. Quite an amazing little product! Well done.

The end result was great. But... The sad card was blank, there were no written instructions, and the included url for a YouTube video didn’t work. Fortunately, the internet was available and I found the help I needed, especially the pi-star image file and software to burn the image onto the sad card.
