Not bad for back up.
I picked up a cheap tripod to keep in the car and needed a cheap ball head. This one fit the bill. For the price you cannot go wrong. Holds my Nikon DSLR with 70-200mm 2.8 just fine. Not as smooth as my main ball head but this was $300 less. It may look like an Arca type plate but it is not. That is why the 4 and not 5 stars. There is very limited info on Amazon or the manufactures site about this but like I said for the price its well bought.

It is much better than the one that came with my tripod out ...
I've been using this tripod head exclusively for about a year now. It is much better than the one that came with my tripod out of the box. My only complaint is as you tighten the tension knobs it tends to adjust the framing of your photo. over time I anticipant and adjust accordingly. I am not sure if this is something I would experience of I bought a higher end tripod head. overall well worth the price.

A good product, but it would have been VERY helpful ...
A good product, but it would have been VERY helpful if they had included in the product description that it will not fit a standard tripod screw without the "smallrig 1/4" to 3/8" tripod screw converters listed in the "customers who bought ... also bought this" section.

Really nice....
Does a good job with Canon 7D and EF 100-400mm lens which is about six pounds total weight. I do believe it would handle a super-telephoto like the EF 500mm lens as well. This is just what I was looking for. So far no lens creep or slippage.

Fine for the money.
I's OK. Certainly an improvement over a standard head.

Does not hold up under use.
this started out a few weeks ago as a good ball head but after one outing the rotation of the head itself has become very loose. It rocks back and forth instead of staying stable.

Quite happy with this
Well built and heavy! Works very well with my micro 4/3 and also with my DSLR. Tight. Nicely machined. Highly recommended .
