Vivitar DVR917HD 4K Action Camera with Remote (Black)

This is the second action camera brand that I am trying. For a first time action camera user I would say that I should have gone with a better brand than then Vivitar. Unfortunately it did not work out for me. Sound quality is bad almost non existing. picture is ok. The first issue I noticed when I received it was the back of the water proof case was all scratched up. First strike, once I removed the camera from the housing the actual camera was scratched. Second strike! Finally I used it to test it and see if maybe I was jumping the gun on judging. I ended up with about 30 minutes of unusable video because the battery died. I am going a different route so good luck to Vivitar with their future action camera production.

I've been using a GoPro camera for some years. I saw a great deal on this camera, Vivitar DVR917HD & thought I'd add it to my bike. With 4K & a variety of options on this camera I thought what tha hell lets go for it. I quickly found that it had limited space for it's memory card & what I mean is it only takes up to 32 GB, no more that that or it locks up the camera. Battery life is very short unless you're using the minimum settings, 720p @ 60fps. Then worst of all the software suite that comes with it does not work on any MS computers over Windows 7, WHAT? That's right, Windows 7. I would suggest getting a newer Vivitar or just bite the bullet & GoPro.

This is a great action camera for the price!!!! The sound can use some improving but the pictures and videos are very clear. I would advise you to buy this camera over the GoPro unless you are going to use it daily but if you’re only going to use it for vacations and a few other events I would definitely buy the Vivitar.....

I bought one of these 2nd-hand for use on my motorcycle. The battery was dead, so the hunt was on to find a replacement. None of the stores that sell the unit carry spare batteries, nor does Batteries & Bulbs. I asked Vivtar support twice about a replacement, and both times, their answer was,"We are sorry to inform that we do not deal in direct sales with customers, we do not manufacture separate parts for the unit, therefore, we do not have the information about the availability of the parts. However, you may have a check with any local technician or Store for a generic battery that matches the specifications of the battery. Thank you for using Sakar International."I can run the camera with the USB attached, but cannot use the waterproof case that way (kind of impotant on a motorcycle). Video quality is what I expected for a knock-off. Low-light shows blue streaks in the recordings.Don't bother with this one.....

I got this as a Christmas gift and only used it once to try it out. After minor useage, and much time of not being used at all, I tried using it over the weekend and it didn’t turn on at all. Battery was okay and haven’t been dropped or anything. Save your money and invest it into another camera

I misplaced my older GoPro and looked for a replacement. I hoped advances in technology would let me get something similar at a discounted price. The video quality for the Vivitar isn't anywhere near as good as my OLD GoPro. The battery life was about 45 minutes which isn't horrible depending on your needs but I saw many negative reviews citing battery problems. Overall, I view this as a toy and it's going back tomorrow.

Battery died after less than 1 minute. Manufacturing date was 09 2017. Will not hold a charge. Finding a replacement has been difficult.
