Prepared by the Committee on Minimum Design Loads for Buildings and Other Structures of the Codes and Standards Activities Division of the Structural Engineering Institute of ASCE Provisions and Commentary of Minimum Design Loads and Associated Criteria for Buildings and Other Structures, ASCE/SEI 7-16 are two separate volumes and sold as a shrink-wrapped set. Any unopened returns to desertcart should include both the “Provisions (Set: 1 of 2)” and “Commentary (Set: 2 of 2)”. Minimum Design Loads and Associated Criteria for Buildings and Other Structures, ASCE/SEI 7-16, provides the most up-to-date and coordinated loading standard for general structural design. The two-book set of ASCE 7-16 describes the means for determining design loads including dead, live, soil, flood, tsunami, snow, rain, atmospheric ice, earthquake, wind, and fire, as well as how to assess load combinations. The 2016 edition of ASCE 7, which supersedes ASCE/SEI 7-10, coordinates with the most recent material standards, including the ACI, AISC, AISI, AWC, and TMS standards. Significant changes in ASCE 7-16 include the following: new seismic maps reflecting the updated National Seismic Hazard Maps; new wind speed maps, including new Hawaii maps, that result in reduced wind speeds for much of the United States, clarified special wind study zones, and separate Risk Category IV from Category III New snow load maps incorporating regional snow data for areas that previously required site-specific case study zones; Updated rain duration provisions that align design requirements with International Plumbing Code provisions for drainage; Entirely new chapter covering tsunami design provisions, which are important to Alaska, Hawaii, California, Oregon, and Washington; and New appendix provisions for fire design. Standard provisions are accompanied by a detailed commentary with explanatory and supplementary information developed to assist users of the standard, including design practitioners, building code committees, and regulatory authorities. Standard ASCE/SEI 7 is an integral part of building codes in the United States and is adopted by reference into the International Building Code, the International Existing Building Code, the International Residential Code, and the NFPA 5000 Building Construction and Safety Code. Structural engineers, architects, and those engaged in preparing and administering local building codes will find the structural load requirements essential to their practice. Review: AISC 7 Most Important for PE Civil Structure Exam. - For PE Civil Structural Exam applicants, a good sum of exam questions rely heavily on this reference book, whether conceptual or problem solving. It is a must have code and standard reference required to pass this in-depth structural design book that covers wide range of different design loads to be considered. Review: Easy to use - Made my life easier at the same time made me miserable

Does NOT include both books
I bought this for my California seismic exam. I expected BOTH the previsions AND the commentary. I ONLY received the commentary.

Complete Set not being shipped.
I would urge people to order this directly from ASCE as people from Amazon apparently have a tough time with basic reading. This description clearly says it is two items, Provisions and Commentary. I received only the Provisions, and the back of the book says "1 of 2, Not sold separately". There were other reviews stating this issue, but I needed it quickly and didn't want to pay shipping when ordering directly from ASCE. When I talked to customer support the only option they gave me was to send me a replacement. No guarantee if the replacement is going to be the same issue. If it is not complete, hopefully it will be the commentary so I will have the complete set that I paid for. Customer support said they were escalating issue, but who knows if that will do anything or keep this same issue from happening to other customers.

Product Description Said Two Parts - Received Two Parts (Manual and Commentary)
I was concerned about receiving both the manual and commentary since many of the reviews said they only received part two (commentary only). However, I received both! Very happy with my purchase.

MANUAL ASCE
AUNQUE ES UN MANUAL TECNICO UTIL, NO ES LO QUE PEDÍA. ME ENVIARON SOLO EL LIBRO DE COMENTARIOS Y NO EL MANUAL DE ESPECIFICACIONES.
