Southwest Wholesale and Tony are the best you can ask for
I have never written a review of a vendor/purchases before but I simply could not let the dedication of Southwest Wholesale, in particular Tony, go unnoticed. I have tried a variety of online venders and have always been left wanting. At those vendors, the plants came damaged, were clearly neglected before shipping, or were simply not the quality I expected. Thus, I decided to try out Southwest Wholesale and I cannot stress how impressed I was. The plants were not only beautiful and healthy, but they were clearly carefully packed with love. Inside my order were detailed instructions on how to care for the plants - not only on basics like what kind of soil they need but for how to make sure they get the best care over the seasons. (He even gave me a few extra which honestly made my entire week). It is clear that Tony genuinely cares deeply for his plants and wants to share that love with you. (I know it sounds like I was paid to say that but I am just a very happy and excited new plant mom). I personally believe this is one of the best plant vendors out there and cannot recommend them enough.

Agave Love
These little plants arrived healthy and well packaged. Such a great price. Bought for my hubby who is a huge tequila fan. Great gift for someone who has everything. They are in a pot in our back yard and given tender loving care. Important to read the directions on care....I probably would have killed them by now, but they are alive and thriving....

Came slightly damaged, but are doing well.
I got these a few weeks ago. They came as soiless-ish young plants that were secured rather well in a triangular shaped box. Even though there was no damage to the outside of the box both plants had suffered a bit of damage in what I am assuming was transportation. The damage was to some of the leaves which I removed the damage sections from. The plants had their roots wrapped in an mesh that when I removed I found an earthworm caught up in one that may of been nibbling on the roots during shipping and the few days the plants stayed at the post office. (USPS doesn't deliver by me and the package was stuck over the weekend there.) The earthworm in the roots might imply these plants are grown outside (perhaps even wild) vs inside if that is interest to anyone. I transplanted the plants into my own specialty succulent mix and they have taken off well without and shock issues. I'd say they have even grown about 20-30% bigger since I've had them. The only thing I don't like so far is it's hard to tell if these are actually agave right now as mine have no ridges on the leaves to speak of yet. The way the look currently is like a few types of young yucca. However lack of ridges doesn't mean this isn't agave as they tend to get them as the plant matures. Just that I can't 100% tell yet. I'll be sure to update my review when I have a more definitive answer. Update: After several years the plants are still doing well. You can see then growing next to my aloe. They seem to be as claimed.

Exactly what i needed!
Two very healthy, beautiful starter agaves! I put the smaller one in its own pot and the larger one im the center of a large pot surrounded by some small succulents! They came with a little user manual typed out by the seller. I followed the planting and care instructions and they seem to be thriving and well! I also had some questions and comments for the seller, and i got a quick thorough response! Plus i received a secret bonus gift that im very excited for lol...

Just the size I wanted. These are small, which gives me more years of their short (ten-year?) life. They arrived in careful packaging and were healthy on arrival. Seller includes a sheet of instructions about caring for this kind of plant.

I was not aware of the origin of the plants. I may not have purchased them if I had known. I wanted an agave that I could grow in New Mexico. Hope they survive!
