Good book for practice, but short
Conceptually this book is good (though it is somewhat brief, it would be better if there were more sample tests (not just 2). The questions themselves, I think, will give young students and parents a good opportunity to understand the test itself and what the questions will look like. It will also give students the opportunity to practice taking the test and see how they are doing. The answers themselves are brief, so there are not a whole lot of detailed explanations. A few answers are more detailed. Numerous answers just state the answer with no explanation at all, or a minimal explanation at best. The initial printing of this guide had several errors with regard to the answer key. One question didn't even have the correct answer as a choice. I have received from Mercer, and reviewed, the revised guide and the errors have all been corrected (of the ones I identified). I am not able to tell the difference between the two printings, so I'm not sure how one would know if they have gotten the newer guide. I am told that they have pulled all of the old copies from Amazon and replaced with the corrected version, so if you order now, I assume you will get the latest revision.I do think this guide can be useful to students practicing to take the OLSAT (level F). I would recommend that a parent reviews the sample questions with their child first so they understand the general format. I would recommend that they proctor each practice test to their child in the allotted timeframe so that the student can get used to the pace of the test. Parents should also coach their kids to ensure they understand that every question should be answered. I do not believe that a wrong answer on a question is worse than not answering at all. Therefore, students should understand that they should not leave questions blank and ensure to complete all questions in the allotted timeframe (even if they have to guess on questions at the end, when time is running out). I don't recall seeing this advice in the guide (though I may have missed it).Ideally, it would be good to have 3 or 4 practice tests for this. The first 1 or 2 could be used to help the student get familiar with the pacing of the test and the style of the questions themselves. Then after reviewing each question, and particularly the ones they get wrong (and why), they would have another 1 to 2 tests to practice more. I would rate this book higher if it had additional practice tests and if the answers were more thorough in their explanations.

Parents beware!!!
A couple of discrepancies between answer key and multiple choice given on the practice test. Please go over the questions with your child. I’m very upset with publishing how can they make these mistakes! I was enjoying going over questions but now I don’t trust they’ve learned anything properly from this book. Also, not all the questions have an explanation and the ones that do (not all) don’t make sense. Will order a different book from another publishing company.
