Hammer and Standard Punches Set + Smart Bench Block

Excellent set for a good price. The punches are flat unlike a roll pin punch but they are durable. The magnetized block only has one small surface that is magnetized on One of the "barrel groove ends". All the tools are in a nice organized box that does pretty well as a stand.

Real Avid makes some excellent products and this one is no exception. Buying it as a combo saves you some money than when buying the block separately. Block is non-marring and the addition of a magnet strip reduces the chances of losing pins. The hammer is balanced well and the handle fits nicely in the hand and the rubber grips keep it in the hand. The pins are well made and the points that make contact are smooth at the edges almost round in feeling. This helps prevent scratches on the metal if the punch slides out of place. The red rubber rings also help keep hold on them during use. I did bend the smallest punch, but that could well have been my fault for using the wrong size on a pin that was stuck and was a pain to remove. The rest have worked very well and have retained their alignment. I would buy this set again. It has performed well every time I have used it, and I have gotten a lot of use from it thus far.

Wanted a punch set that was dedicated to working on my firearms. While the hammer is small I find it has more than enough weight drive the typical Glock or firearm pin easily. I really like the ability to change out the hammer faces and the fact that the storage case keeps everything organized. The bench block is an added bonus and very handy, I like the magnetic ability to capture the pins. Personally I do not think I would use this set as a general punch set And is well worth the money spent and I expect this set to last for a long while when used for firearm assembly and disassembly.

It does its job for sure, the thin metal will bend if to many good "wacks" but you can bend it back, Its not meant to last a lifetime, and it does its job, just be mindful and have patience. Lube before use and letting it work first before you use the toolset helps.

Making everything easier with this punch set. Always good to have the right tools for the job. The selection of punches are great. That block comes in handy. Avid tools are really good and I have different tools from that company.
