More light. Far less measured power than halogen. Much less heat.
These 3,000K LED G8 bulbs were used to replace G8 25 watt halogen bulbs in rectangular, under-cabinet light fixtures. Our 3 fixtures are rectangular with 3 light openings each. They have a rocker switch for high and low settings. The original bulbs burned quite hot on the high setting. Also, the bulbs never lasted very long. We were always replacing them after a period of several months. Replacement costs were expensive; about $5.00 for each halogen bulb at one of our big-box stores.About a month ago I purchased these 10 LED, 3000K bulbs which arrived in a very attractive, small, compact box. The printing on the box says: "LED G8 BULB. Watt 2W, Lumen 220lm, CRI >85Ra, Beam Angle 360 Degree, Voltage 120AC, UL US Listed". Each bulb is individually packed in a small white box -10ea to the box. Each bulb contains 17 LED elements; 8 columns of 2 vertically-stacked elements evenly spaced throughout the circumference of the bulb + 1 LED element on the top of the bulb.Using a KILL A WATT P3 digital meter, purchased from Amazon, I first measured one of our light fixtures with the original G8, 25 bulbs (3ea). I saw 78 watts being consumed in high-output mode. I replaced the halogen bulbs with the new LED bulbs and remeasured the power consumption again on high setting: About 4 watts total! Light output was a little whiter than the original, but by no means objectionable at all. It was no where near a bright daylight color and actually looks noticeably brighter than the old halogen bulbs; even though the LEDs are advertised to replace 20 watt bulbs, not 25 watt bulbs such as the ones originally used in our fixtures. We have had 3 fixtures running several hours per day (a total of 9 bulbs). They run much, much cooler under the cabinets than the old halogen lights. The LOW settings on our fixtures produce a very diminished light output; so much so that for all practical purposes it is useless under normal circumstances. If left on at night at low setting with no other adjacent lights on, they are, nevertheless visible when you walk into the room. So I would presume that the fixture has a voltage dropping resistor that is way too large for the newly configured LED lights. Naturally, we've decided to use the lights in the high-output setting all the time now. Remember, originally we were consuming about 78 watts X 3 (=234) watts vs now about 12 watts total with all three fixtures turned on. This is a HUGE reduction in power consumption, PLUS there is a greatly reduced heat output from each fixture. The lights do not flicker under any circumstances; high or low output setting. The color temperature is perfectly acceptable, only slightly cooler than the halogen lights they replaced. Another thing we noticed during bulb replacement was that the halogen bulbs are manufactured with irregular bulb lengths, while the LED bulb lengths were spot on.We will monitor bulb life and report back to you on any type of anomalies or failures in the coming weeks/months.

Great replacement for a GE under-microwave halogen/xenon bulb
I just moved into a new house with a GE microwave that had a 50 watt (!) bulb installed for the under-microwave/surface light. We pretty much leave that light on 24/7 as a night light and find it quite useful when cooking, etc. Plus we just like the way it looks. But there was no way I was going to let the thing burn up 50 watts all day, every day. This 2 watt replacement is pretty good. I am mostly happy with the purchase. The light is notably dimmer, but not significantly so. However, you can't really complain when you're pulling 25x less power (why on earth do these manufacturers still find it acceptable to ship products with such energy wasting bulbs?!). I really like the color temperature of the bulb - slightly warm, but not too warm, just enough to be pleasing and comfortable without being too harsh. The only drawback to sticking one of these in a GE microwave (and probably a lot of other brands) is that the "dimmer" or two-position brightness setting is basically worthless. I knew this would be the case going in, but just to reiterate other reviews, you'll basically only be able to use this bulb on the "high" setting. The low setting is so low that you can't even tell the bulb is on unless you stick your head under the microwave and look directly at it.Also, this was one of the few I found claiming to not only be UL certified but with a tapered design near the pins so that it would fit in my microwave's socket.Overall, I am happy I made this purchase. Obviously, I can't comment on longevity yet.

From 280W to 28W. The perfect halogen replacements!
These are the perfect replacement for hot and inefficient under counter halogen bulbs without having to replace fixtures. The brightness of the LED bulbs is identical to 20W halogens and the color is very similar. There is a more yellow hue than the reddish hue coming from the halogens.Color and Brightness:In the attached photos, I changed the left fixture by replacing the halogens with the LED bulbs. The right fixture still has the halogens. You can see that the stone back splash on the left looks slightly yellow while the right side looks slightly reddish. This color difference is barely noticeable and once all of the bulbs were changed you'd be hard pressed to determine that these were LED bulbs.Power Draw and Temperature:I've read some reviews that state that these do not get hot at all. That is incorrect. When left on for a while they do warm up (especially the ceramic portion) but they can still be touched because they're not too hot for skin contact. The halogens were so hot, they used to warm up the entire set of top cabinets. With the halogens, having 14 bulbs under the counter, I was using 280W of power and now with these LEDs I use a mere 28W. The cabinets no longer change temperature when the lights are on.Reliability:I waited a few weeks before writing this review to check to see if I had any failing bulbs and so far I do not. I purchased 20 bulbs so that when one does fail I have backups. Generally with this type of electronics either they will die quickly because of a manufacturer's defect or they will last a really long time. I was lucky in having no duds. My bet is these will last a while but I was prepared to replace a few early dead bulbs.--- UPDATE: Feb 2018 ---Of the original 14 bulbs I installed in my under cabinet lighting, not a single one has failed since I installed them a year ago. I leave these lights on a lot longer than I used to leave the halogens because of heat/power reasons. Super thrilled with these. I would give them 6 stars if I could.
