Nobody wins here.
Quite a good action drama, with a very realistic performance from Dermot Mulroney as the father of a critically ill youngster going 'dark' in Mexico to find a lung doner for his child before she dies. The poverty and dangers of just being in Mexico are well created by the writers and director and Mulroney is no ex-Special Forces expert thankfully (for a change) and has to take some hard hits along the way which added to the realism of this film. The shortage of organs available to moderately rich Western countries is highlighted, and the trade in this field is ever-growing. Its all about supply and demand, just like drugs.Certainly a thought provoking piece of cinema and I agree with a previous reviewer's pertinent comment that this film should have been given a wider audience.

Great gripping thriller
I just happened across this movie on TV and thought I would give it a go as I like dark dramas.Really great film with some superb acting - quite short at under an hour and a half but none the worse for it.Explorer organ traficking in Mexico and underhand deeds of the authorities. Can highly recommend this.

Challenging thriller
In this thriller, a couple goes outside the law to secure a transplant for their terminally ill child. Dermot Mulroney takes the lead role, as the father who travels to Mexico, spending most of the movie frantically trying to track down the illegal organ transplanting doctor. A strong supporting cast includes Diane Kruger as the mother, Sam Shepard, Vincent Perez and Rosanna Arquette. So why did this movie not get a proper cinema release? It's treatment of the material is uncompromising and unsentimental, especially the ending, which will shock many viewers. Despite good production values, good storytelling and a strong cast I suspect it was a bit too challenging for mainstream US audiences. However, it is worth seeking out for viewers who can look beyond the latest blockbuster cinema releases.

Confusing first half
Confusing first half as films jumps from past to present then moves into a great story until the ending which was abrupt unnecessarily .
